    • Moment of Peace

      From supermomma June 20

Hey there! How are you? I have some great news! Ali hasn't had any seizures in about 3-4 months! I hope it stays like this for a while. How have you been? It has been a while since we spoke, I'm sorry that I don't remember your child's name but how are they doing?I gotta go. Ali is acting up and won't stop teasing his sister.

    • Congrats

      From supermomma April 5

I'm so happy for you and your family! Congratulations! There has to hope for one of us. Ali has been about a month but I'm not holding my breath as he has done a 8 month bid before and then started having huge seizures for a long time. It's very nerve racking. Not knowing if you an do anything. How is the job situation out your way? My husband hasn't worked in about a year or so. He finally graduated from the welding school, but is now finding that there are no jobs even in that field. There were tons of them while he was in school, but he had to finish in order to be certified. We're trying to find another option for him but all he really knows is welding and tool making. The auto industry really sucks right now.Hopefully Bernard will keep on this streak of great luck and I hope to see that you and your family are doing well. Talk to you later. Sarah

    • Shout Out

      From supermomma March 22

Hi Nellie! I thought that I'd give you a shout. How have things been going for you and your family? Well so far Ali has had no seizures for about a month. He is ow on 4 meds for seizures but at least the docs are willing to hold off on the surgery for a bit. They were considering corpus callosotomy. We went to London last week and had a appointment. We are having to decrease the clonazepam so I'm expecting him to start taking seizures in the next few days or weeks. When that happens, then his doc will just have to adjust his other meds. I haven't been on here for a while and felt like typing. How are things going for Bernard? Any new hills to climb? I hope to hear from you soon. Take care. Sarah.

Hi Nellie...thought I'd say a quick hello while I'm peeking around here. Hope the holidays were great for you. We went to Moncton as we usually do for Christmas. Things are about the same with me...no better but no worse so that is good. (Chris is going downhill fast...thought you'd like to know) I think I will try to get an email off soon to explain further. Hope Bernard is making out OK...we have to catch up for sure. Take care. xo Ruth

    • Thumbs Up

Great Job Nellie!I'm really happy that you finally got the answers you were looking for.As for us, Ali had over 12 grand-mals last week and over 6 absents,.We were trying to lower his meds because the clonazapam is effecting his behaviour to the point of him not being himself at all.He has hit people at school, pulled hair, bit one person, etc. If you can think of it, he's probably done it!Anyhow Ali has been doing really well in school but we got informed yesterday that his education assistant teacher is being moved schools after the holidays because there is one of the spec ed children from Ali's school who is moving that needs e.a. teacher. So I'm expecting that once he gets back to school and realizes that his e.a. isn't there, shit will hit the fan!I told him yesterday but I'm not sure he completely understood. There's a possibility that around the week of january 12, Ali will go into the hospital to be monitored for his seizures. He could be there for up to a week.My daughter Diamond is doing great in school. She has a chance to play with the symphony orchastra with her music class.I'm so proud of her! She's never played any type of instruments before in her life!My youngest son Lealand is growing huge! He's into 18 month clothing and he's only 10 months old.He still has to learn how to roll and crawl so the peadiatrician sent him for blood work because of him being behind in milestones.I don;t think that there is anything wrong,he just doesn't want to do it!He'll scoot along on his butt while sitting up!He also is giving me grief over eating. He won't eat his baby cereal anymore so he's been eating cheerios for 2 weeks. My kids drive me nuts! And on top of everything I feel like I can't go anywhere due to the weather. We have a blizzard right now.I have anxiety issues over the winter weather,I can't stand being cooped up but I can't be outside for too long because I can't breath in this weather! Bronchial-Asthma Sucks!!!! I was doing okay with the nutso thing until I looked outside this morning!I feel like my skin and insides are crawling uncontrollably!I'm all shaky.I can't stand feeling like this cause sooner or later,I feel like I ruin christmas for my family.I used to like christmas ad still do for the most part, but everything that goes with it drives me absolutley crazy!I should stop and try to relax. Fat chance!!! I'll talk to you soon!!Have a great christmas and I hope to hear from you soon! Love Sarah

My 7 year old son has epilepsy. It has affected his eye sight and his coordination. He can't wear glasses because the problem is coming from his epilepsy(occipital lobe) and not his eyes. he went two years undiagnosed and has been on medication for almost 2 years. Its still not controlled.

      Treatments

      Clobazam Somewhat Helpful
went up to the maximum dose and helped some. His eyesight improved somewhat and his balance also somewhat but he has not been seizure free
