51 IN I am married to the best man in the world and a mother of 2 beautiful adult children-a daughter and a son. I am a registered nurse but do not work due to a disability. I am a published author and still write books at home. I believe in the finished work of Jesus Christ and am a new creation in Him. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder 7 years ago and recently diagnosed with lupus (SLE).

Interests
My family, friends, & God are all my #1 interest. I love living way out in the country with wildlife all around. I love our woods and love to walk in them. I have a calico cat named Yadah and a 14 year old border collie named Dakota (aka Koty). Summer and fall are my favorite seasons. But lately spring has been pushing it's way into the favorites list. I like winter as long as I am home with a fire in the fireplace and can look out at the sparkling snow - just don't like being in it like I did when I was younger. I am an amateur ornithologist along with my husband of 14 years. We have listed every bird we have seen at our feeders. It is so relaxing living here. There is so much beauty in nature, including ourselves. I love this quote: "Has anyone ever told you how beautiful you look when you're looking for what's beautiful in someone else?"

Close Bipolar Disorder
I self - medicated with alcohol since I was a teenager. 3-4 years after I quit drinking, I had my first manic episode. I never knew until then that I had bipolar disorder, the alcohol, as I said, medicated the symptoms. I was hospitalized for 6 weeks. In the first 2 weeks of my hospitalization, I didn't even know that there was a "me". I didn't even know that I existed. I didn't know that I was in the hospital - it is all a blank to me. The Psych. Dr. said it was the worst case he had ever had.
Treatments
- Abilify Not Working
- Psychotropics are not good for me - they are too strong for me.
- Depakote Not Working
- Caused serious liver inflammation.
- Fish Oil Working / Worked
- Everyone should take this!
- Clonazepam Working / Worked
- take 1 mg. every night. can't sleep without it
- Benadryl Working / Worked
- I had to stop the benadryl because of the lupus. I am not sleeping as well now.
- Xanax Working / Worked
- I use this only when needed
- Cymbalta Working / Worked
- 90 mg. every night - an antidepressant that also helps with the body pain of lupus.
- Prayer Working / Worked
- Understanding the grace of God gives me a peace I've never had before. So much so that I have been able to stop many of the strong medications I had been on prior to knowing His grace & being filled with His peace.

Close Lupus
Just diagnosed with lupus. I had an older sister that passed away with lupus about 4 years ago. Many in my family have autoimmune disorders. My father passed away with an autoimmune disorder just 2 yrs. ago.
