About Me
I'm 38 years old that is experiencing hot flashes!! I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at age 27. It was an accidental diagnosis. I worked for an ob-gyn and was bored on a Friday afternoon and wanted to see what my insides looked like and the ultrasound tech saw a huge yucky mass on my left ovary (the cancer stage 3C) ...see accident. I had no symptoms, no pain, no problems, normal periods, nothing and I had cancer. The doctors I worked for didn't believe that it was anything bad and passed it off as an endometrioma. In my gut I knew it was bad. I convinced them to do the surgery and was told I saved my own life. Anyway I had a hysterectomy in January 2007.. so it's been 1 year that I've been in full menopause. I was never able to conceive a child because of the cancer and scarring from all my surgeries. I have one cat named Stoney. I am divorced. I am currently trying to stop smoking. No cigarettes since January 29, 2008. I am a complaint and appeal analyst for a health insurance company in Fort Wayne, IN. That's pretty much me in a nutshell.

I love spending time with my family, my friends, sometimes I love just being alone and being on the internet and playing spider solitare. I love music of all sorts. I really like learning about astrology and things of that nature.

cancer at age 27 and the doctors tried to save my last ovary so I could have children. It didn't work because my tubes got blocked from all the scar tissue from prior surgeries.
Treatments
- Estradiol Somewhat Helpful
- It works for the most part but the doctors said due to my age that the hot flashes will still come.
Close Physical & Emotional Abuse
I was married to a man that played "jokes" on me like heating up a bic lighter til the top was really hot and burning me with it and thinking it was funny. Arguing, screaming, manipulating me into getting his own way. Trying to keep me at arms length from my parents and family to control me. While he was in jail he would call all the time to make sure I was home and not out doing something I shouldn't be doing. Then one day he hit me in the face & choked me. I called the cops!
Treatments
- Abuse Counseling Somewhat Helpful
- Helped me to recognize the patterns of abuse that I didn't even realize were going on in my life. The emotional abuse and the little "jokes" he pulled were really abusive.
- Divorce Somewhat Helpful
- Went along with the abuse counseling because I filed for divorce two weeks after he hit me. He also was arrested as I insisted on it.
- Leave Working / Worked
- I still think about him. Whenever I hear a loud truck go by my heart picks up and starts beating hard. I am still scared of him but my two orders of protection I had for two years helped me feel a little bit safe.
Open TMJ
I was recently diagnosed with TMJ and I have never been in so much pain. My hysterectomy was less painful than this TMJ pain. If anyone has ANY pain relief options/alternative treatments please let me know. I need any help I can get. I am in so much pain I can't concentrate.
Treatments
- Mouthguard Not Working
- I received the mouthguard due to grinding my teeth and wearing the mouthguard triggered my TMJ reaction.
- Hydrocodone Somewhat Helpful
- Sometimes the pain is so unrelenting that nothing in the world seems to help.
