supplements Mood
Wednesday, October 22, 2008 | A General Update story

Trying new supplements now.  I've quit the "reliv" vitamin drink because it was packed full of soy and calories.  I think I'm allergic to soy as my stomach always swelled up after drinking it.  It sure did help with the Lupus pain and fatigue though.  It also helped with sleep.  Now I'm trying something called "Vemma".  It's similar to "reliv" only no soy and few calories.  Mostly just vitamins.  I'm also taking DHEA (5mg at breakfast, 5 mg at lunch).  The doc said my DHEA levels are on the low side so it would be worth a try to see if it helps.  I read that the ARthritis foundation has had good luck with relief from pain with DHEA.  Doc recommended 25mg a day but I wanted to start small and work up gradually since I'm so sensitive to changes.  Also bought some MSM today at the health food store and will begin taking it tomorrow. 1000mg a day.  Arthritis foundation has found good results with it also.  Plus one member of this support group is using it with excellent results so I'll give it a try.  Hope it doesn't bother my stomach though.

Sufferring with a bad cold right now and not sure whats causing me to feel worse -- Lupus or the cold.  At least I have my family behind me.  They are so awesome and loving.  God has truly blessed me with a wonderful family and good friends.

Here I go down the supplement trail again.  Always trying to find the magic mix that will eliminate this awful fatigue that just never seems to quit.  I've been using "reliv" nutritional drink mix since Sept. 2007.  It does help with some things.  Eliminates some of the inflammation and seems to aid in sleep because I have less achiness.  But, it also adds weight which starts a whole other mental problem.  Plus, I think I might be allergic to something in it.  So, I'll stick with it for a while longer and continue to search for a replacement.  Perhaps I'll even get lucky enough to find something in a pill form rather than this awful powder that taste like garlic and soy!  YUK!
