Support Groups
Close Smoking Addiction & Recovery
Started smoking in the Military over 10 years ago. Trying to focus on positives and not negatives. Married to a non-smoker so that should help. Quit smoking 2/9/08.
Treatments
- Cold Turkey Working / Worked
- I stopped using the patch on day 2 of my quit. So far so good on the quit. I do keep a 7mg patch in my bag at all times in case I need it... but so far I am okay!
- Nicotine Patch Somewhat Helpful
- The Patch has worked in the past for me but only for a few weeks/months.
Close Autism / Autism Spectrum
My nephew Isaac was diagnosed with a mild form of Autism at the age of 2. He is now four. I love my relationship with him and I want to know as much as possible about his “world”. I have been an active part of his life since he was born. It breaks my heart to watch him struggle. Isaac is verbal and is pretty much self sufficient for his age. We are currently working on potty training... it's a bear!!!
Treatments
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Somewhat Helpful
- We put him on a Gluten and Dairy free diet. It was very hard to keep him on it since his sister could eat whatever she wanted. He still drinks the Rice Milk and does not consume Red 40.
- Early Intervention Working / Worked
- In Missouri they have (had) a program called Parents as Teachers. They worked with Isaac until he was three. He is now in a Preschool setting in a class specifically for Autistic children. During class they do speech therapy and occupational therapy.
- Occupational Therapy Working / Worked
- Done is school. Isaac is learning how to dress himself, brush his teeth/hair, and his motor coordination.
