it irks me when people who are supposed to be supportive want me to feel differently because it makes them feel better. i don't know what the journal said, i didn't read or write it - but i know what the hot line person said because he said it to me and i have an idea what he said to others - he gets upset when one of us is not feeling well. he shouldn't be on the hotline. so i appreciate YOUR validation, thank you.

Close Multiple Personalities
Professional author SO of DID person soulmate/best friend 12 yrs. Shared dysfunctional childhds w/alcoholic fathers (hers more damaging, incest). B4 she died in 1994 asked me to write psychohistory, legal release to therapy notes. Writing book hope to establish my kinship w/ & empathy for children of alcoholics, incest survivors, multiples, their loved ones. Empathize w/frustrating controversial diagnosis, difficult-to-manage condition & chronic, overwhelming trauma intended to buffer.
Open Families & Friends Of Addicts
child of an alcoholic, grandchild of 2 alcoholics (who i never met but who sure screwed up my father). also have dated addicts, disastrously, and have friends who struggled with drugs and alcohol altho i try not to spend much time with them anymore. in my 20s was surrounded by addicts, letting people drive me places when they were drunk, etc. my tolerance for it is much lower now.

- Adult Children of Alcoholics - 2 years, helped tremendously to recognize the patterns of a dysfunctional family and para-alcoholic behaviors in myself.
- Patience Not Working
- at least 20 years' worth, can't recommend it...and wonder why DS would offer patience as a 'treament', it's tantamount to accepting whatever crap the addict sends your way

Open Sexual Abuse
Professional author, child of a physically and emotionally abusive alcoholic. Writing book about my (now deceased) best friend who shared my dysfunctional childhood and who was in addition an incest survivor. I hope to better understand what she was going thru.

- had a fantastic chiropractor who specialized in this, he'd massage the inside of my cheeks. there was a tendon there so tight it felt like a string of dental floss!
- Mouthguard Somewhat Helpful
- the cheap soft flat rubber worked better than the hard plastic that a dentist fit over my teeth. a turn off tho for bedmate.
- Acupuncture Somewhat Helpful
- freaked me out tho since too many needles within my peripheral vision
