Just a quick update for all to let you know how much your support means to me.  After all of the kind comments yesterday and especially what Gayle told me about having the same situation to deal with herself.  I was fired up to get back out there again today and make a difference!  I went back outside today and I looked at the mess and went back to the garden I started on the other day.  Today is my 3rd on it and while I was chipping away at it I told myself I am not stopping today until I see a significant difference, something encouraging that I can take inside with me at the end of the day.  Well, guess what?  That significant difference is that you can now stand on one side of that garden and actually see through it now - not just a little spot but I got all the tall stuff out, I pulled out all the blackberry briars (and they were so huge!) and you can actually walk through it now!  To me, this was like - YES, YOU DID IT!  It's not finished, of course but it's way better than it was 3 days ago.  And this is one of the gardens that two very tall trees used to be in but Katrina blew them down and we had someone grind the stumps but never got around to spreading the remnants of the stumps so there are a couple of big holes and two large mounds of dirt to deal with that was under all of that mess.  There is a vine (I have no idea what kind) that over the past four years has run rampant in that area.  It is everywhere!  And there is some small tree next to this garden that this vine has wrapped itself around what looks like a million times.  Under the live growth of this vine is what looks like a mile of dead vine wrapped around this little tree so much so that that I still can't figure out what kind of tree it is yet until I unwrap that vine from it.  The good news is that I found my azaleas under the mess and they are still green and still alive!  Go figure...

I got stung by something and had a weird encounter with this strange looking bug that I think sprayed me with something, yuck, yuck, yucky!!!  I got stung on the back of my arm and couldn't see what did it.  I assume it was a yellow jacket but I didn't stop I just kept on going and eventually it stopped hurting.

Laura, my sweetheart you are welcome anytime but I hate for you to come and spend your vacation working.  I live in southeast Louisiana about 40-50 miles north of New Orleans.  You can't come without Pam though.  She's been wanting to come and can't.  Her vacation is next month.  You'll have to get with her and ask her exactly when.  I love that you are sweet enough to want to help though!

It sure helps when you have friends like all of you that when you think there is no more hope all of a sudden there's the light again!  Thanks, you're all the best!

Isn't it encouraging what a little visible progress can do to boost our energy for a difficult task ?!! Congrats on finding your azaleas and that they're still alive, too!

Could that errant vine be kudzu?? Mercy, I hope not, but what you describe sounds like what kudzu does.

Judi, you are so strong /subborn {smile} that I've never doubted that you could accomplish whatever you put your mind to. I still wish you had some help with the really hard part, though. You've gotta post more pictures when you get this garden done. Your back yard is so beautiful, and I know your front yard will be too before you're done!

Now - it's time to reward yourself with a nice tall glass of something good!

    Love, Jan

I am so happy for you.AAhh Ms Judi, I dont mind working during a vacation, I'm off from my regular job and that is all that it takes to make a great vacation, helping a good friend is just making it an excellent vacation. I'll really get with Pam and see if she wants to come down. I know I'd love to. You take care and be careful of the creepy crawlies. Love ya,Laura

I'm so proud of you Judi, getting out there. I looked at your pictures and I can truly say wow!! I know its over whelming, and I must say myproperty wasn't as bad ................ It was bad, just not as bad. but getting out there everyday doing whatever I could ,did make progress and finally all of it was done ,it took time, quite abit of time , and at times I wanted to throw in the towel, but I kept going, I had a big riding mower and my hands, luckily no downed trees but overgrown bushes that I cut one branch at a time.and the vines , what can I say but WOW!!! they creep over everything, well,...... not anymore they're gone. Stop when you have to, sit and relax, go back when you're ready ,you'll be amazed at the progress, Big hug for you Judi, I think you're wonderful, Gayle
