Morning All,
Thought I had better give you an update as to what happening wih me. I am feeling ok. My new treatment started last Thursday. Am getting Topotecan. 3 weeks on and 1 week off so it seems like I will be going often to the Dr office. Labs the day before treatment every time. I am glad the Dr. is only 3 miles from me. He also wanted to give me the Avastin but I cannot afford it. My insurance pays 80 percent and I pay twenty percent. My cost is more than I could ever pay. At least the treatment time is short. My little bag of steriods anti nausa ,fluids and topotecan will only take a total of a couple hours. The only side effect I felt after my first treatment last week was that I slept the day away on Sunday and feet a little light headed at times. Will see what happens this week.
I got a new companion, a little two and a half year old Shi Tzu. She is a real cutie and a real lap dog. The household that had her prior was having trouble with her having an accident inside sometimes which has not changed but I am really working at changing that. They had another dog that picked on her and here she doesn't have that. This is the first time I have had an inside the house dog. Her name is Lilly. The weather here has been really hot but that what I get for liveing in Tucson.Ha''

Hi Carol, I hate that costs are part of our care decisions! I am wishing you the best with Topotecal.
Congratulations on the little Shi Tzu. This is the kind of dog that we have although he is large for the breed. Ours is a little sweetheart and a totally loyal companion. He's very smart, too, for a dog.
It is finally getting warm here but we had almost 4 inches of rain here yesterday. I arrived home last night and all my husband could talk about was the way it poured during the day. Today is like living in soup it is so humid.
You are also in my prayers. Many hugs, Janet

Dear Carol
Happy to hear that your first treatment went well and isn`t too tedious. Not having to travel is definitely a perk, unlike my 2.5 hr trek that I experience traveling to MSKCC. Congrats on your new buddy, wishing you many happy years together! Lots of love,
xxLinda

Carol, that is so upsetting to me that your insurance won't pay 100% of the Avastin. We should be able to get all and any of the treatments that are available. I am so so happy about your new furry friend. I am a dog lover and have two pomeranians. They are such a source of pleasure to me. Their love is unconditional. It has been very hot here also. So you are not alone. Love and hugs Anita
