Hi Carol, I wanted to write you back and say that it sounds as though you great-grandchild and family live in a very interesting place. What an exciting environment for a child to be around all those animals! One of my daughters has inlaws that live in Tucson. They are great people and always invite us to come and see them but our daughter and their son live in Denver. We most often see them there. I am going to try to go to Denver sometime in June. They have two children. One who will turn 3 in June and another who will be 1 in August. My oldest grandchild, who lives in Indianapolis, will be 3 in May so it will be a long time before there are great-grandchildren. Hope I live that long!!! I hope you are continuing to do well. Best wishes and hugs, Janet

Dear Carol I was reading your profile and wondering how you`re doing on your drugs, as we seem to be on the same regimen...When I was diagnosed a yr ago my CA levels were at 7500 and went down to 1500 after surgery and debulking. I was on Carboplatin/Taxol for 18 treatments and was found to be resistant. Then Doxil tripled my CA to 984. I`ve been on Avastin/Gemzar since 2/2 which has reduced my CA to 24 and kept it stable there for the last 3 readings...I consider this my wonder drug and was curious how you were doing with it. Hope we can become friends! xxLinda

Hi Carol, I even write things down to ask the doctor and still forget either to ask that question or the follow-up question. It was my family practice doctor who set me up for the shingles vaccine; they gave a handout with information when I got the vaccine that told about people with cancer and chemo being more at risk. Yes, Plainfield, Indiana is very close to Indianapolis. I do live in the city and Plainfield is to the west but not far at all. It is in another county but is practically a suburb. How are you doing? I also wanted to ask: what caused them to order a CT scan when your CA 125 was so low? It's great that they found the cancer so soon. It still has been freezing here but tomorrow and the weekend are supposed to be warm. It's been a never-ending winter that I think will finally end. Trees are starting to turn green so that's wonderful. Haven't you been fairly warm lately? Love and best wishes, Janet

Hi Carol, Thank you for your comments on my journal. I did get my latest CA 125 result today and it has gone from 5 to 6. That's still low so I've decided not to get anxious about it but, since my doc gave me a standing order for monthly testing, I'm going ahead with having it done monthly. My husband does know about my worries. I know he cares but he doesn't know what to say sometimes. I haven't been to my counselor since February since I've been doing so well regarding the PSTD but I have a follow-up with her next Monday and really feel a need to see her. She has helped me so much. I really appreciate your information about having a CT scan despite a low CA 125. I definitely will ask about having one sometime in the future. Hugs and love, Janet

13 or 14 is really low.. and quite safe I would have thought.. they wouldn't even give me chemo here if I was that low. I find it strange the different approaches to treating us.. They considered me stable at 74 as it wasn't going up or down and decided not to treat me until it started to go up again.. 13 or 14 would be considered to be in remission.. unless the scan showed otherwise, I suppose. Sounds to me like you are doing really well whether it is just water or not.. Yes would be wonderful just to pop round for a cuppa and a chat.. I am hoping to be in the US again this winter.. perhaps we could make it happen then.. Love and hugs.. Inka xxx

Hi Carol, thanks for chipping in with advice and info for me. Must be strange not knowing if you are getting a particular drug or not.. Are you CA125 results coming down? I'm just back from seeing my GP adn he says I have, what us Brits call 'hayfever'. It's to do with the pollen at this time of year and an alergy to it. I've never had anything like that before and I seem to have been plagued by all sorts of minor ailments this year. He gave me something to keep it under control and has ordered lots of blood tests.. He seems to think that my immune system has been compramised in some way. Tomorrow I am off to London again for the scan and should get the results next Tuesday. Wishing for you to be free of treatment and fully recovered soon.. huge love and hugs.. xxx
