Hi Carol.. I just read that you are on a trial for Avastin.. I might just have a touch of chemo brain here, but I can't remember how your scan turned out.. Was it clear and the Avastin is to keep it in check? Hope all is well with you.. Love and a hug.. xxx

Dear Carol How`s your weather been in sunny Arizona, are the temperature still in the triple digits? We`ve been fortunate, in NJ, with temperatures in the mid 70s but are due for rain. However, the water is extremely cold, which makes it tougher on the crew for small sailboat racing. I`m looking forward to the water warming up soon,as I`m not as tough as I used to be...How are you doing on the Avastin, are you still having the neuropathy? I used to drag my feet on the carpet to bring the nerve endings to life! Stay well. Lots of love. xxLinda

Hi Carol, Did you ever get the results of your CT scan? I hope the news was good and that you are having an enjoyable holiday weekend. I am wearing shorts for the first time this year - this means that I am finally warm. It's really a beautiful day here. My husband and I have already gone for a long walk. It's the best opportunity we have to really talk. Spring has really exploded around here with the trees all leafed out and flowers everywhere. Best wishes to you, Much love, Janet

Dear Carol I had neuropathy of the feet for many months while on Carboplatin/Taxol. I would drag them along the carpeting to get the feeling back in them. Presently it happens on occasion, but not as often. Avastin in the 3rd in my series of different chemos and is NOT a trial. They have me on 500mg & 1200mg of Gemzar weekly and have seen a major decrease in my CA125. Presently the last 3 readings have been at 24, but I`ve NEVER been off chemo and am sure they`ll rise if they ever give me a break. If you ever feel like a trip to the Jersey Shore I`d love to show you the Atlantic Ocean and all the activities that go with living in a shore community! Hope you`re feeling better! Lots of Love! xxLinda

Dear Carol Thanks for the birthday wishes...I guess the word got round :( However, you`re right: a year older is better than the alternative. I`m still on Avastin/Gemzar with a schedule of 3 wks on and 1 wk off. Chemo is becoming tedious, as finding suitable veins is always an issue. At least my CA125 has stayed at 24 but wonder what will happen if I`m ever off chemo. How are you doing on the Avastin and how are you feeling? I`m a bit disappointed that I`m gaining weight but think it`s coming from the chemo drugs (good excuse). Stay well and keep me posted on all! xxLinda

Happy Mother's Day to you, too! I have slept the last two nights. It feels so good to have gotten some rest. I am having a very good day. The men in my family do not like to wait so we are not going to a restaurant for dinner; instead they are cooking. Should be interesting. My daughter in CA sent me a card and in it was an ultrasound picture. That's the way she told me that they are expecting another baby! So that was quite a "gift." Have a wonderful day with all of your family. I'll be having a CA125 this week. I hope your CT shows only good things. Love and hugs, Janet

Hi Carol. It hasn't reached high 90's yet but by Fri it will be 93 and humid. Yuck. Yes I am taking a trip back home to NJ where I was born and raised and I will meet up with Linda. It so happens she lives in the town where I will be staying. I am so looking forward to it. Hopefully in the fall I will meet up with Beth, Inka and Lindamae in FL. I have a cousin that lives not too far from where they will be. I have been on DS since Sept of '07 and have not met anyone in person yet and I would so love to meet everyone. Love and hugs.

Hi Carol, Thank you for you congratulations and support! Getting this degree was a goal that was very important to me - I think in a way it was proving to myself that having cancer didn't stop me from doing something in my life that I valued. Now I wish I could remodel my kitchen!!! Neither my husband nor I are at all handy. We're lucky if we can paint without making a mess of it. So I envy your ability to do things with your hands. Thank you for being a good friend, Many hugs, Janet

Dear Carol I`ve been told that CA 125 values are very different for each individual case. However, you`re very fortunate to be part of a study that is using Avastin, as it is a very expensive drug that many insurance companies reject for treatment of OVCA, as it isn`t firstline. Even if you are getting the placebo, it seems that you`re doing something right... I forgot to mention that you and my 36 yr old son may be working in a similar field. He was a naval pilot and flew numerous missions over Iraq, during two tours of duty. When he finally left the military he was contacted by Boeing to work on a simulator for the new F18, due to his engineering and flight experience. Presently, he`s working in Pax River, south of Annapolis,Maryland, on simulator designs and electronics for military planes. Stay well and keep me posted on your trials.xxLinda
