Hi all,
The side effects of my new treatment are kicking in. Fatigue mostly. All I did yesterday is sleep. At least I don't …
I have been a very active person all my life. I am a retired mechanical assembler and trained people at a missile plant. I have one son and two grown grandkids. My first great grandchild arrived April 1st. of this year..Yipeee! I delt with stage 3 overian cancer just a year ago. Have had surgery and completed 8 chemo.treatments. My Dr. called me on Aug. 10th. to tell me the results of my ct scan. My cancer had returned in other places and is not operable so chemo. is my only option. I have opted for a blind study for a new medicine so I will be getting either a placibo or the real thing. My Dr. and nurses do not even know what I am getting.

Morning All,
Thought I had better give you an update as to what happening wih me. I am feeling ok. My new treatment started last …
You are right Carol. It is very difficult. The negativity gets me down sometimes. But I endure for now. Good luck on your CT results. Love and hugs Anita
Dear Carol
Sending lots of good luck your way for a great CT scan. It`s good to hear that the Topotecan is only causing fatigue. Stay strong...
xxLinda
Dear Carol
I`m at MSKCC awaiting chemo and thought of you... how are you doing with the Topotecan? Does it have any adverse effects? Lots of love,
xxLinda
Dear Carol
I had no idea that a CA level could be at 4 with recurrence, I thought that was the best indicator. There is a woman on this site, named Linda Williams, who has been receiving Topotecan, I don`t think she has any issues with it so far. Today I noticed that our leaves were changing, and thought of you. I guess the temperature must be dropping after all. Stay strong.
Lots of love,
xxLinda
Dear Carol
I`ve been fortunate and had coverage since February for my Avastin, which has helped my CA drop to 18. However, my battle will begin January 1st, when I have to switch over to the state health plan. Presently I take any Avastin I can get, because I realize they`ll eventually pull the plug on my approval. The cost of this drug is exorbitant, at $6000 for one small infusion. I think that last year`s bills at MSKCC exceeded $400,000 :(
I, too, have trouble sleeping due to steroids. What chemo are you getting now? Our weather still hasn`t changed over, slightly cooler ranging from 70-80s. Stay strong and well.
xxLinda
8 chemos. and surgery. . My treatmets were paclitaxel, carboplatin. Cancer is back .New chemo treatment. Carboplatin,Gemcitabine and a blind clinical study drug (Avastin). Dr. said I would be on chemo. the rest of my life as the cancer has returned places where inoperable. April of 09.Am finished with the chemo. I was getting the placabo and not the Avastin. Just started on Topotecan Dr. wanted me to get the Avastin in addition but can't afford it.
