My name is Ken Blake. I am a single male with Lupus looking to find friends in the same way as I. I want to meet new people and offer help to others and get suggestions for myself. I work when I am able, with local disabled children by helping in gathering donations and arranging activities for them. I am new to this Group and to Lupus; I hope to make good friends.

Church, Judo, Jujitsu, Habitat for Humanity, Volunteering with Handicapped Children and the Food Bank, Building Handicapped ramps for the disabled, Bowling, Fishing, Renting movies, Making people smile. All when I am able and not sick.

Close Lupus
My name is Blake. I was diagnosed with lupus just recently, but I have been visiting Doctors for over 10 years. My Doc now is very helpful and has treated me with moderate success. I have the same story as many others. I was told it was in my head or I was making things up. It even caused my divorce.
Treatments
- Prednisone Working / Worked
- Other than insomnia the predispose was the life saver. I have been on it for six months now.
- Toradol Working / Worked
- Toradol every now and then works great on me for the pain and stiffness in my muscles. The bad thing is that you can't have them very often due to intestinal issues.
- Azathioprine Too Soon to Tell
- Just started 4 months ago.
Close Breakups & Divorce
My name is Blake. because of lupus I have had many breakups and one divorce. My wife could not handle things and her family did not think I was even sick. I would just like to meet others that understand.

Open Depression
Type: Clinical (Major) DepressionMy name is Blake, AKA, "lupyone". Even though I conceder my Depression a symptom of my lupus. It is a big part of my life and has been impossible to treat and control. Maybe it"s time for a med change, I don't know. I constantly fight for control of my life whether it's a Lupus flare or the Depression acting out. I see allot of Lupus patients here at DS battling Depression also, So I felt the need to add it as one of my communities.
Treatments
- Desipramine Not Working
- Did Nothing but made me a zombie
- Effexor Not Working
- Was "Hell" to come off this Med. "Major withdrawals".
- Elavil Not Working
- Also did Absolutely Nothing
- Prozac Not Working
- Also Nada
- Psychotherapy Working / Worked
- Every week when I am not to sick from Lupus. I love it!
- Zyprexa Too Soon to Tell
- Gained a little weight
- Lamictal Working / Worked
- This seems to work the best, though I think it is mostly a mood stabilizer. It makes me feel a little better over all.
- Clonazepam Working / Worked
- I take it as needed. Works very well when I am feeling very stressed.
