    • Close Depression
      Type: Clinical (Major) Depression

I have fought dep/anx my whole life. Can be crushing at times, I especially display avoidant behaviors.

      Treatments

      Meditation Working / Worked
Meditation through yoga. Works great when I do it.
Positive Thinking Too Soon to Tell
I just wanted to type "I'm horrible at positive thinking"--that should give you a sense how new I am to it.
      Psychotherapy Working / Worked
I have a great therapist, but don't see her very often.
Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
      They are my heart.
      Writing Too Soon to Tell
This will be a new step for me.
      Physical Exercise Working / Worked
    • Close Bereavement
      Type: Loss of a Friend

I lost my best friend to cancer in 01/07. I miss her every day...

      Treatments

      Helping Others Working / Worked
About six months after she died I decided to take the time I had been dedicating to her care and give it to women who were also in need. Nothing has helped more in convincing me that life does go on.
      Keeping Busy Working / Worked
It's definitely good to stay busy, I think, but it can also have the downside of repressing how you feel. I threw myself into work immediately after she passed and I think I inadvertently delayed dealing with it for a long time. So keep an eye on your motivations, I would say.
      Talking Working / Worked
Absolutely. Being vulnerable and building your relationships can really help you realize all the good in life, even after you've seen the worst side of it.
      Time Working / Worked
It sounds trite, but time really does heal all wounds. Every day is a little easier--not a lot, but a little.
