    • About Me

Well - what to say? I am a 30-year old mommy to 2 beautiful girls - I work for a non-profit organization - and I have been happily married for eight years to a police officer. I joined this board when I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism just to learn about what other people were experiencing. I love this board because you can talk to people who are experiencing the same things you are.

    • Close Hypothyroidism

After having some routine blood work done, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism at the age of 30. My husband had been constantly telling me to have my thyroid checked because I was always so tired and grouchy. I have felt this year for a couple of years, but I just thought it was because I have 2 little girls and they definitely keep me on my toes! My middle sister, mother, grandmother and 2 aunts also have hypothyroidism.

      Treatments

      Synthroid Too Soon to Tell
    • Close High Cholesterol

I have had high cholesterol for as long as I can remember. I am SURE it is hereditary because my middle sister, mother and father all have high cholesterol. My highest level has been 437.

      Treatments

Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Somewhat Helpful
No matter what I do, my cholesterol will always be high because of hereditary reasons.
      Physical Exercise Working / Worked
      4 days a week since January 2007
      Vytorin Working / Worked
Been on it for at least a year and no problems so far...
      Zocor Working / Worked
Had no problems with Zocor, but had to stop because of pregnancy.
    • Open Parenting Preschoolers (3-5)

Mom of Katy, who is 3 1/2 and is the most strong willed child you will ever meet. I know parents are biased about their own kids, but she is very intelligent for her age. I have a hard time keeping her entertained!

      Treatments

      Child Time-out Working / Worked
Depends on if my youngest is throwing one of her tantrums! Time-outs work REALLY well when they are dished out by her dad!
      Education (School) Working / Worked
Katy LOVES going to school 2 days a week. It really gives her some "away time" from her little sister and she has learned so much!
      Patience Somewhat Helpful
Depends on the day. Sometimes she gets the best of me. That little stinker knows how to test every water that I have! Sometimes I just don't have the energy to fight her.
    • Open Parenting Toddlers (1-3)

My little Madison, who is 18 months old, cries ALOT of the time. She is deemed an unhappy baby, and we just can't figure out why. She has 2 loving parents and a big sister who does what normal bigger siblings do...but Madison is just a very fussy toddler.

      Treatments

      Patience Somewhat Helpful
How much do I have left after listening to the tantrums and fits for 2 hours at a time? Not much...
    • Open Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Have never been formally diagnosed with OCD, but my family is convinced that I have uncontrollable obsessions with cleanliness and organizing.

    • Open Seasonal Affective Disorder

I abolutely despise cold weather, snowy weather, icy weather, the months December, January, February and part of March. I hate how the days are so short and it is dark when I get off of work. How depressing. All I can think of is summer time and warm weather.

    • Open Fitness Goals
      Type: Maintain a workout schedule

After having 2 kids, I decided it was time to shed off the baby weight and get moving! I joined the gym on January 8, 2007 and am now addicted to being "FIT". I recently entered myself into the Body For Life Challenge to see if I can acheive the toned look that I want.

      Treatments

      Elliptical Trainer Working / Worked
Hate it, hate it, hate it!!! But it's a good cardio workout!
Personal Trainer Too Soon to Tell
Getting ready to start with a trainer.
      Running Working / Worked
Once again - running is horrible on my knees, but I just feel so great after running 3 miles. Never in a million years did I ever think I would acheive that goal!
      Weight Training Working / Worked
Love lifting weights. Working on toning right now.
