    • About Me

I live with my son, who is in his 20's, and our furry buddy, Duke. I have SLE (Lupus) with kidney failure and Hashimoto's Thyroid disease. I had Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia Purpura in 1999. I just learned I was "pretty well through menopause" at the age of 41.

your comment on LUPUS FRUSTRATION hit the nail on the head. my entire life is battling frustration with life, with lupus, it's all one tangled mess, a viscious cycle. I'm trying to learn to relax and let frustrating things just slide by me. It's hard but I think I'm evolving a bit.

    • Close Menopause

I am 41 and just found out in October that I am "pretty well through menopause". I am clueless as I didn't expect to deal with this for 10 more years. I have SLE (Lupus) and Hashimoto's Thyroid and am in remission from TTP.

      Treatments

      Premarin Somewhat Helpful
Not sure what all it is supposed to do. I noticed vaginal moisture was back after application; but application was at night.

    • Open Lupus

I was diagnosed with SLE in 1999...and TTP. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroid in 2004. Most of my Lupus issues have been joint swelling, joint/muscle swelling, migraines, fatigue, rashes. In Oct 2006 I had a flare that involved my kidneys and that is starting up again (Aug 08). My son was diagnosed with Wegener's Granulmatosis in 2000.

      Treatments

      Azathioprine Somewhat Helpful
      Celebrex Not Working
      Cellcept Working / Worked
Worked but made me very sick. I lost 20 pounds in one month because of severe nausea.
      Cyclophosphamide Working / Worked
Hair loss and thin skin, dark circles, nausea
      Medrol Somewhat Helpful
      Methotrexate Too Soon to Tell
Pill form not working; shortage of injections; Lupus ended up getting better on it's own.
      Plaquenil Working / Worked
I tried going off this one at one point due to not being able to afford. Flared really bad.
      Prednisone Working / Worked
Absolutely hate it! Thin skin, sensitive skin, mottles skin, and the puffiness!!!
      Rituxan Considering
Would like to have; doctor's are willing; can't afford it.
