"Obama won! I'm leaving the country!" Mood
Thursday, November 6, 2008 | A General Update story

It's amazing how many conservatives I've seen crawling out of the woodworks of my friend's lists, not only here but other networking sites such as myspace. Upon inquiry as to why one supported McCain I find that people fall into certain categories

sheeple- these people listen to the smear adds and do no research themselves. also known as the ignorant.

religious- these are the christian nut jobs who are against a lot of equal rights or intelligence in general.

the misinformed- closely related to the sheeple. The little research they've done has been through places like, friends or family who are also ill informed or sources such as faux news which, for some moronic reason called CA for McCain with 0% of the votes in.

the racist- those who refuse to support Obama because he's black, a muslim, or an atheist. The latter two, of course, being completely false, but should nonetheless have no baring and points to straight ignorance and hatefulness.

No matter which of these you fall into (and there may be more sub categories of these) I have to laugh at  your unwitting claims of leaving the country, usually by going to Canada.

Ah Canada. More liberal than the US, they actually support abortion, gay rights (yay! Everyone go to canada to get married!), are anti-war, and have that oh-so-evil socialized health care. Not to mention, far less right wing christian nut jobs to chew tobacco with. No matter which country you want to attempt to flee too, it's going to be far more liberal than the one you're already living in.  And we all know how horrible equal rights, peace, and health are for you so perhaps you'd better stay put or you'll realize the rest of the world is far scarier and open minded than you think. Wait. Better yet, please do leave so the rest of us can live happily, be healthy, and marry who we like. We'll improve education and stabilize the economy while we're at it. K?

definitely needs to be posted elsewhere too. too good to just keep here!

I know if I cut/pasted it I would catch a lot of flak for it... but I'm really upset seeing reaction. I know if McCain would have some how stolen the election, the 52% who went for Obama would accept the result and seek to work Together. I am so floored that these people you so clearly describe are saying the things they say. But then I remember the things they already profess to believe. Those poor people. They think they're so much above everyone else, they just don't realize they're living LIES

maybe I won't post it, I'll just share the link ;)

thanks geo :-) i would certainly appreciate some positive traffic. did you catch the speeches? When McCain said Obama's name everyone booed. When Obama said McCain's name everyone cheered. Really shows the difference doesn't it?

What you were saying about some of the nutters around, I recently heard that in some states if somebody is a convicted child abuser they have to have a sign in their yard letting people know.

Maybe other people should be required to have signs like:
    RACIST
    KLOO KLUX CLAN MEMBER
    NEO NAZI
    WIFE BEATER
    MAGGOT BANK CEO
    CORPERATE SWINDLER
    WAR MONGER
    ARMS COMPANY EXECUTIVE
    HOMOPHOBE
    BIGOT
    HYPOCRITE
INVESTMENT WANKER (sorry I mean BANKER) gets off on all the money he swindled

At least people would know to stay away from these bastards.

    Any more ideas?

  10. hlks

    Simon, that's a great idea :-)

hey, anyone wanna take turns guessing which kind of mccain supporters siive and aydansmom are? i'm gonna go for religious nut job since that's the most common

Hey I just thought of 3 more signs

    BUSH
    RUNSFELD
    CHENEY

I really don't know how those guys sleep at night.

Yeah I agree, actually in some ways I can see where Bush is comming from he was a recovering alchoholic with issues. Should have had councelling but what can you say.

Runsfeld and Cheney on the other hand make my skin crawl, they have some serious pathological problems.

    SimonM

  15. Misred

Dick Cheney is a dick. Cheney is corporate america

    Misred

  16. hlks

    well said misred

  17. SimonM

You know I used to have a boss who looked like Runsfeld, acted like him to.

The guy's son commited suicide and I am convinced that it was because he had a control freak father. After that event the guy carried on just the same as before.

There are some people that you can't read when you look into their eyes you see emptiness somehow they have managed to eradicate compassion from themselves.

    oh man..that's terrible

Barak Obama on the other hand is an honerable man with a passion to do what is right. I believe he will try to do the right things for the US.

It is nice to know that the US will no longer be permitting torture the most horrible of war crimes at Guantanamo once he is elected.

Excellent journal sweetpea! I couldn't have said it better myself. You have effictively summed up ALL of my feelings on this election, and for the first time in my life, I am truly PROUD to be and American...and truley proud that I will be able to tell my grandchildren that I voted for change...not because he is going to be the first Black President (although I do think thats pretty damn awesome) but because it is time for people in this country to get past the dumbass backwoods redneck Republican views, and start working toward becoming a united nation again. A nation who cares about it's people, the people HERE in our country, who need us.

    Thank you for posting this.

Nice! As a recovered religious nutjob myself (I was hard-core "Jesus Camp" indoctrinated as a kid, and "came out" as both bisexual and an atheist when I was 18), I understand the impulse to force the rest of the world to conform to your well-meant beliefs. But as much as they bitch and moan about being "persecuted" by the "liberal media" and "mainstream America," they don't realize that they live in one of the only places in the world that would allow them to spew their beliefs all over.

And yes, I love your post. :) I know so many people who threw out random numbers that they either made up or found on some crackpot website. Like the one above--McCain's 6 negative ads to Obama's 1100...? Saying things does not make them true. Thank the good atmosphere above.

  22. Siive

Haha, that sign idea is good Simon. Would make life easier, no?

And hlks? I can't say anything for Aydansmom, but I am definately not a religious nut. xD Far from it in fact I have a problem with religion, so I don't associate with one. Good try though.

I think the person who dissed Canada as not having anything worth going there for has obviously not ever seen the how posh their igloos are! HaHaHa! Now that's being informed.

As an English person I just have to say this.

People in the UK have the BBC news and the BBC world service is an even more objective news outlet. That is what I try to watch in the US, that and PBS. Because neither are primarily driven by comercial interests.

Many people in the US do not know this but the FOX network is owned by Rupert Murdock an Australian Media Mogal who owns a large proportion of the commercial channels in the UK. In the UK we know him to be the media manipulator that he is.

On FOX, Murdock's editorial mouth piece is O'Reily.

I have a particular dislike for Murdock because he was partially responsible for pursuading Tony Blair the center left prime minister of the UK (the great hope for many of its citizens), and leader of a party with socialist roots to start supporting hard right policies fo the Bush government.

This resulted in one of the most popular and well liked prime ministers in the history of the UK becoming one of the most unpopular towards the end of his term.

Possibly second only in unpopularity to Margerate Thacher at the end of her term.
