"tired.. my neck hurts (too much stress?) and i can't seem to stop snacking"

I suck at this Mood
Sunday, October 19, 2008 | A Frustrating story

I fucking suck at self restraint.. when i started out the day I wasn't going to eat at all. Then I decided to eat a little so my husband wouldn't get suspicious, so I ate a kiwi. But then at lunch I hate two bites of his veggie burger because it just looked good. Then, at dinner time I had a small helping of baked beans with slices of veggie hot dog. So my plan of zero calories was now up to about 400 calories. if it weren't bad enough already, at around 7 I started to get the munchies... i started pacing around my kitchen looking at all the good I couldn't eat. I paced, opened and closed the fridge and the pantry for an hour. And then, I gave up. I gave in. I ate maybe two and a half or three servings of pizza rolls which is- what? another 600 calories or so? and add 200 calories from the soda that I needed to wash down the pizza rolls. I'm really not happy right now....

Your body needs calories to function. Calories=Energy. Starving yourself will not make you lose weight. Maybe in the beginning but then your body begins to go into starvation mode and will store any sugar and fat it can, then it will take the sources from your organs. This makes you sick and any calories you do take in, will be held onto by your body for survival. You must consume calories. Start yourself off with about 1500 a day and try to keep the food you eat balanced and healthy. DO NOT beat yourself up for eating. And DO NOT deprive yourself or you will binge. Eat what you want in moderation. You won't get the cravings like you would if you keep denying yourself. You CAN lose weight! You will do it and feel better but do not hurt yourself in the process. You are too important for that.

I agree with TeriSue, you have to have some carbs everyday. A habit I developed when I was younger (I didn't even realize it was a habit) was to graze (eat little snacks through the day). By doing that it keeps the cravings on the side. A good source of snacky foods would be from what's called the Daniel Fast. Do a Google search and will show you a bunch of protein type things to eat. Plus, if you keep your body moving all day long, your getting some form of exercise throughout the day.

grazing on high calorie foods is bad. grazing on healthy, whole foods is great!
    trust me, girl:
keep fruits, veggies, berries and berries handy aaaall day. eat all as much of it as you want!! if you feel like bingeing, binge on, sista, but binge on strawberries or cantaloupe or anything high in nutrients and low in calories!
eat 1/4 cup of walnuts a day, plus one other serving of lean protien.
drink 3 cups of skim milk a day.
drink 6 cups of water a day.
take a multivitamin, i recommend a prenatal vitamin because its high in b-vitamins and iron, and when you take it make sure you take it with lots of vitamin c, but dont eat it as the same time as dairy cuz you wont absorb it properly.
    When youre hungry, EAT!!!
You'll feel great cuz you'll be well nourished, you won't be storing the energy you consume as fat. no fainting, no mood swings (from not eatin or malnutrtion), no cravings, an youre metabolism's gonna be FLYING.
    trust me, worked for me!
the healthier i eat, the better i feel, and i maintain a healthy weight, which icould not when i only ate when i was starving frm not eating all day(like you're doing). its impossible to not eat and be mentally stable. you need nutrients to make the chemicals in you brain that make you happy.
truuuust meeee, you'll feel so much better!!
    xo!

xten, i was told by a nutritionist that eating too many fruits can make you gain weight because they're high in sugar and calories. A while back I decided to try to be a rawist (eating nothing but raw fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, and sprouts). I did this for about a month before i fell into old habits. she asked if i'd lost weight in that month and I said no.. and she said it was because i ate too much fruit.

i actually don't drink milk- but i can drink soy milk! and I believe in getting all of your vitamins and minerals from food, not supplements (and many of those supplements are actually not vegetarian friendly).

but i also need to add- this isn't a mystery to me. i've followed this same basic diet before.. snacking on good stuff, eating 6 small meals (which only made me feel like i was ALWAYS hungry) a day, eating all those good low calorie foods, going to the gym as well... it didn't work. nothing has worked. admittedly, i did feel a lot better when i was doing the raw food diet, but it didn't effect my weight.
