    • Close Insomnia

I have been an insomniac all my life, and to make it worse, I deal very poorly with even a minor amount of sleep deprivation. I think routine is the best thing for it, but life doesn't always allow for this. It's amazing how you can be so incredibly tired, yet unable to enter into sleep. My problem is falling asleep; if I fall asleep, I sleep right through, and can usually get back to sleep if I wake up incidentally.

I've taken Zopiclone, but I really do not like it. It makes me feel a little funny, and doesn't leave me feeling rested in the morning--I pretty much feel exactly the way I did before going to bed! It doesn't always work for me either.
      Meditation Somewhat Helpful
Sometimes extremely helpful--The Meditation Podcast has a guided meditation for sleep, and I will listen to it every night if I am going through a rough patch.
      Music Somewhat Helpful
It's amazing how listening to soothing music or a guided audio meditation can relax you. Sometimes I just can't get to sleep because my body feels agitated, and this can be as effective as a drug if all I need to do is calm my body.
      Reading Somewhat Helpful

I know I shouldnt be using it for this but sometimes its all that will help me. It works consistently but I try not to use it more than a few nights in a row because I begin to develop a hangover effect and feel tired all day. After a week it loses its effectiveness. I only do this because I am desperate and it works better and had fewer side effects for me than prescription drugs. Again I dont like to take it because its not meant to be used this way but I do it.
    • Open Acne

I started getting large pimples on my nose in elementary school; 25 now and still suffering. The areas affected have shifted around a number of times. It hasn't been a problem on face in a long time, but my neck has been a very difficult area to treat. I have a moderate number of large and medium pimples on my shoulders and back, and my chest is affected in a more general sense, however the severity has decreased w scrubbing. I've tried a number of treatments and am now considering accutane.

      Treatments

      AcneFree Working / Worked
it works very well for me, but I don't have the patience to apply it twice a day, plus the effort and expense of using it on my chest and back.
      Benzaclin Working / Worked
Used this with an accompanying pill, and it worked extremely well, however it wasn't a permanent solution.
      Differin Somewhat Helpful
worked on spots, but aggravated my skin a little bit
      Proactiv Working / Worked
it works very well for me, but I don't have the patience to apply it twice a day, plus the effort and expense of using it on my chest and back. (Switched to AcneFree due to cost and availability)
      Retin-A Somewhat Helpful
Dries the skin, wouldn't recommend it on large areas.
      Tetracycline Somewhat Helpful
Reduced in general, but not completely.
      Washing Working / Worked
I started scrubbing the affected areas of my chest with a puff, and the severity has quite reduced.
    • Open Anxiety

I started realizing I was suffering from social anxiety about two or three years ago, maybe more... I've been determined not to allow it to be my future, and I've noticed dramatic changes in how I act since then. I don't know what caused these changes, perhaps it was having some positive people in my life. Partly I try to force myself to do things I don't want to do. I used to get terrified about making phone calls (to people I don't know, or don't know well) but am doing much better...

    • Open Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

I've had Ulcerative Colitis for 5 or 6 years, and now my GI is telling me I have IBS symptoms too. Bloating and constipation.
