  • Support Groups

    • Close Scoliosis

CurvyCanuck hasn’t entered any details for this support group.
    • Close Chronic Pain

Kyphoscoliosis, COPD, cannot take NSAIDs due to a partialgastrectomy (likely DUE to TOO many NSAIDs), 25 plus surgeries. The good news is I ama physician (MD-PhD- Harvard) and have a good idea of what I am doing with my body and what is happening to it though I think all of u do, regardless of profession. I ama pediatrc oncologist and the stress of that is sometimes overwhelming. Howeverm knowing you help save lives is also the ultimate HIGH! I also have served with Ds without Borders.

      Treatments

      Flexeril Not Working
It just put me to sleep!
      Heat Somewhat Helpful
      Hydrocodone Not Working
I really do not care for this medcation - it can be a useful opiate in some circumstaces butI'llstick with the old standby, MS Contin and MS-IR, ie morphine.
      Meditation Somewhat Helpful
I just need to find time to i. :-)
      Methadone Considering
I am strongly considering taking this medication but society's view of it affects my thought. I know, I need to be more progressive. I AM progressive - and know this is a great pain med. It is the pre conceivced notions I have!
      Morphine Somewhat Helpful
It is looong I will do this at some other time
      Naproxen Somewhat Helpful
I took it for years but ended up losing 3/4 of my stomach. I also liked ASA with codeine or hydrocdone but that is out now. I had an onstruction due to an ulcer I did not realize I had - was always in pain so what else was new and collapsed one day at work. Good thing I work at my medical office/ med school/ hospital.
      Nerve Blocks Not Working
My pain doc wh is a close friend calls my back a "dog's breakfast" and she is right - I have looked at the imaging and it is the worst I have seen. Oy vey! Needless to say, I did try one nerve block - actually radiofrequency denervation - and itdid not work. It is not atall viable in my situation.
      Neurontin Not Working
Nah, there is some thought this is a good medication for neuopathic pain but it is being given to pts when really it is NOT indicated.
      Oxycodone Not Working
I was on all of these - oxycontin worked for a time but I did not really careefor the side effects and switched on my own recommenxdation to morphine and my pain med doc and GP agreed with me.
      Physical Therapy Working / Worked
      Early in my life, yes.
      TENS Not Working
No way did that help. Plus, I do cancer research and the notion of electricity in my body was proably psyhological I treat too many leukemia/Aplastic anemia pts who live near power lines and while the jury is out on that, I do NOT needmore problems so am not willing to take a chance, I spend enough time in frontof a monitor, lol
