I got my new babies yesterday (8/29/09). They are 3 beautiful little ratties named Rhett, Cade, and Beau.

I love animals, books, movies, my Mom's new car (lol). I don't give out my real name on the internet, or where I live (I think knowing I'm from NY is enough). My screen name "Tierna" is Spanish, it means "tender-hearted". That pretty much describes me to a tee. I'm a devout animal lover, they are my world, my rock, I don't know what I would do without them.

Close Pet Bereavement
I've lost several pets over my life time, most of them have died way to young. And I miss them very much. Bear, Coco, Tigger, Jake, Jewel, Tootsie, Tip, Lady, Snoopy, Sable, Patches, Sammy, Buddy, Merlin, Crystal,and Max . . . RIP dear friends and please know that even though some of you have been gone many years I still miss and love you all very,very much.
Open Sexual Abuse
I was molested by an uncle when I was 10yrs old.It only happened once,and I was frightened so I didn't tell my parents.Unfortunately he then went on to molest my younger sister and cousin. Finally our parents were told,but my grandparents talked them out of doing anything about it,because he"wouldn't have a life if he got arrested".My Mom really regrets it,because my grandpa(his dad)molested my then 13yr old sister,she's 16 now, and the family wanted to ignore it but Mom had him arrested for it.
Treatments

- Me,Mom, and my 16yr old sister have completely cut ourselves off from my Dad and his side of the family. It has really helped, they aren't good people.

- When I get sad I like to listen to my favorite songs, and that always cheers me up.

- I still hurt very much, both for me and my sisters. And my Mom, she feels terribly guilty because she let herself be talked into something she didn't agree with. But trust me talking/journaling do help alot.

- Having my animals to take care of has really helped.

Not really sure when I started feeling depressed, I just know that I've felt really bad for a very long time and I'm ready to feel better.

- It really helps to get my thoughts out on paper.

- My pets really help me especially my dogs and my pet rats. Taking care of them gives me something to think about other than how bad I feel.
Open Anxiety
I've always been a nervous person. But within the last few years it's gotten worse. Now I've started having mild anxiety/panic attacks.
Treatments

- It helps me calm myself down.
- Pets Working / Worked
- My dogs really help when I'm feeling panicky, they come and cuddle with me and it helps calm me down.
Open Families & Friends Of Addicts
3 of my uncles are alcoholics (recovering). I love them dearly, and want to be there to support them. I do worry about my sister,who drinks,because alcoholism is in the family. I worry that she'll go the same way.
