On June 30th I had a TIA mini stroke. I am just recovering now. Sorry for not getting back till now. I am a 55 year old male who was told recently that I have severe emphyzema. I have smoked for 40 years and am a chain smoker. I was able this last month to drop from 3.5 packs a day to .5 to 1 pack a day, and trying to get down to nothing. I have been reading about all you courageous people on here and not knowing much about this. I chose to keep reading. I have other problems but right now the emphysema is the problem. Thanks for letting me join this group and learn.

I do hope you are doing much better by now and staying well. Hopefully you have that nicotine licked, if not keep trying cause I know you can do it. You have surely been in my thoughts and prayers. Keep lookin' up. God bless, Arlene

Michael, that is awesome about 16 weeks smoke free. Great job. So, You had to get a stint. Was it for your heart? I ask because I read they they are going to start doing stints of some sort in the lungs. Well, as I understand it it is similar to stints. anyway, either way, how are you feeling. I have COPD and Emphysema, High Blood Pressure. More but problem is I smoked till it might be too late. Emphysema is severe. I am still smoking. I seem to need it to get thru things. Started around age 12 got to be a chain smoker... I am 55 now and in the last few months cut down to 1 pack.. Big thing to me, but not good enough.
