I haven't heard from you in a while. Just sending over a hello!
I just read your post and the comments about the changes/mergers at DS. Thought maybe a gigantic box of chocolate could bring some joy. Truthfully, I've never seen anything but improvements with the changes on DS in the 2 years I've been here. As always...I wish you success & luck in these ventures, ..... ones intended to help us and to keep DS cost free for subscribers.

Aww shoot. I missed it. For some reason I thought your birthday was today. Well, happy belated birthday Paul. I hope you had a wonderful day. : )
Just dropping by to give you a big hug....Takle Care my friend....
I got sober in 1988 after years of being a "golden slipper" in various meetings. I was convinced that my story was different and relieved to find out that by admitting I was an alcoholic, I finally had a solution to my problem.
I came out at 18, was booted from my church, estranged from my family, and hit the streets angry and alone. I lost the majority of my friends at the onset of the AIDS epidemic (my bf was one of the first to be diagnosed with "GRID" in 1984.) I did what I needed to do to stay alive and after a couple of years on the streets got sent to a county treatment facility. I'm lucky to be alive and have tried to repay that gift in my daily actions.
My partner and I are considering adoption and we need more information.
Before coming to DS I was a news editor and producer for one of those "Liberal" radio networks. I cut my teeth in the peace movement with the Friends and try to focus my work on peace and poverty issues.
My partner filed for bankruptcy in 2003 after losing his job post 9/11 and struggling to find another. We are still suffering because of that and have slowly worked our way into another $10,000 in credit card debt just keeping our heads above water. Medical costs and just the price of life in LA are taking their toll. We spend 50% of our take-home income on rent alone.
