I'm a licenced clinical social worker employed as a mental health therapist. A little on the lazy side, I admit, easy going. My friends refer to me as "laid back" and one calls me "the voice of reason". I've always considered it one of my biggest blessings to have always had at least one best friend. I'm probably the least "sociable" social worker around (although I'm working on that), and much prefer one-on-one. FIERCE when it comes to patient care and sticking up for my PEEPS. Quit smoking cigarettes 1/14/08 and went for six months before I caved (my sister died). This time I quit 1-11-09 and hope to go the distance - one day at a time!

Music. Laughter. Friends. Love to play games, any games. Cards, backgammon, parchisi, canasta, spades, dominoes (especially Mexican Train or Chicken Foot). Bought a Wii for myself for Christmas and love bowling, golf, but especially BOXING. Hoo-yeah. Get out that frustration! I love animals, walking in the woods, bird-watching, reading.

Yes, still smoke freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, but whoo, there are them DAYS, ya know?
Haven't yet found the almost immediate stress reliever …
Just to let my journal and anyone who reads it know, I'm still smoke …
CRAZY day at the mental health. Hanging in there and breathing freeeeeeeeeee!
Hope you are enjoying the summer.
Hoping to hear things are going well for you and hope to hear from you soon. Love & hugs to you my woods loving friend.
Hey can you give me the address of your work? I think I need to check myself in!!!!! Just trying to give hugs in between everything. I think of you a ton and hope you are doing okay.
Hi Carrie! I know I'm not the greatest at staying in touch but I did a bit of catching up with your smoking status. Seems to me you are frightened of going without ciggies but that's exactly what is keeping you hooked on nicotine. Hon it IS possible to live smoke free and actually feel great. The beginning of a quit totally sucks, no doubt about it but think about how many years, no make that decades you have sucked poison then compare that to the months it will take to get comfy in a nonsmoking skin. Not a bad trade off! Try writing down all of the reasons you WANT to quit...not need to quit. Print that list out a few times and put it where you can see it every time you think about smoking. Read that list every time you light up. Look at your yellow stained fingers, your dullish complexion. Smoking totally compromises your circulation system and makes your skin, hair and eyes look dull. So I have to ask you, in what way does sucking poison enhance your life? C'mon Carrie, I KNOW you can beat this addiction. All it amounts to is retraining your brain to think as a nonsmoker. Won't happen overnight but stick with it and I guarantee it WILL happen.
Let me get this straight: you're having the occasional one, but you still have three in your last pack. This is a brain teaser, right? Uh, let's see, you must be bumming them or getting them from friends, because this last pack is lasting a looooooong time! Haha, can't resist tweaking you a little over this last pack which seems to have nine lives! I thought sunshine was supposed to help everybody feel better - oops, I forgot, it's much sunnier here and I'm as nutty as ever, getting nuttier by the day. So much for the sunshine-is-a-natural-mood-stabilizer theory! I saw a great little bird in the park today and thought of you, this little guy had a red head and a red breast - do young robins ever have red caps? He was smaller and thinner than the typical robin, not so rotund. I'd never seen the likes of this little one.
I have been smoking since age 8, with a bona fide habit at age 12. I have tried to quit about 5 times - usually making it 6 months or so, once for a year and a half. I have been noticing serious health effects the last few years and am determined to quit this time before it's too late. I love support groups and journalling. I have three friends that are quitting, as well. My co-workers are very supportive.
April 6th did a VERY stupid thing and mowed my yard after a week of pneumonia and full of steroids. Sciatica hit me like a gunshot to the hip and it was almost a month before relief with two LESI's. Wondering where to go from here.....Have spondyliosis, herniated and bulging discs, as well as compression fractures and nerve compression all in the area of the sacrum.
