It took 9 minutes for my computer at work to boot up this morning.
I spent those 9 minutes staring at the screen.
9 minutes.
It takes about 9 minutes for the light from the sun to reach the earth. If I choose to excercise for 9 minutes three times a day, I could get myself back into shape.
I've written poems in 9 minutes. Eaten meals. If I had spent those 9 minutes trying to clear my desk, I would have at least had time to put everything into one neat pile.
People have overthrown their governments in 9 minutes time.
9 minutes of CPR could save someone's life. 9 minutes of rocket blast could put a ship into orbit.
I'll never have those 9 minutes back again.
Is it really practical to want to take advantage of every minute of life? How much better would our life be if we did a little something to improve it every 9 minutes or so?
I've spent about 9 minutes writing this journal entry.
Maybe this was time better spent.

I hear you. I spend a couple minutes launching stuff in different browser pages, go get a drink, then spend about 30 minutes looking at the stuff I loaded.
Hmmm, 30 minutes of rocket thrust ...

I saw a 3rd world ferryboat break up and go down in about 9 minutes. No life preservers. No rafts. No survivors.
