Snow, Snow, Go Away! Mood
Wednesday, October 28, 2009 | A General Update story

Wednesday, October 28, 2009 - 10:14 A.M.

We have been in the middle of a snowstorm since last night. It is not supposed to end until tomorrow evening, and they are predicting that we will have a total accumulation of 10 to 20 inches.

This is starting to play havoc with my life. Not only can I not get out anywhere, and have had to cancel some appointments, but now my home health care agency is insisting that I let them put me to bed at five this afternoon.

I understand their need to get their clients put to bed earlier than normal, but even my CNA's say that the office personnel will take any excuse they can come up with in order to close the office ahead of time so that they can go home. Although I asked if they would "negotiate" a little on the bedtime, the director of staffing refused. I have no recourse but to go along with their demands, but I will be sure to remember this when I have that interview with another home health care agency.

The pain in my back has been getting worse recently. I have had to increase the amount of pain medicine that I take. Not only that, but I am now having additional pain in my legs and both knees. Fortunately, I will be seeing my primary care physician next Tuesday.

I suspect that it is probably time for me to have some new tests done, including some blood work, which has been requested by my psychiatrist who I see at the better health clinic.

I am supposed to go out and have lunch with my brother and sister Friday afternoon. At the rate that the snow is coming down today, I seriously doubt if we will be able to keep that luncheon engagement. Maybe we can go out sometime next week, or after my brother gets back from his Mediterranean cruise.

Put you to bed at 5???? What??

How do you feel about missing the lunch on Friday? Perhaps this is a blessing?

Going to bed at 5 - even if it is snowy - has made me bleeping mad! I seriously doubt that my caregivers will go home and immediately go to bed right after leaving here. This may seem petty, but to me, it is not.

I feel good about not going to the lunch on Friday. My sister still wants to go. If she does, she will be the only one there since my brother says he doesn't think he can make it because of the weather.

That's a lot of snow....... I know how disappointing it would be for you to have to go to bed earlier. But, if something happened to the caregivers because of driving in bad weather, and no one could come at all, that would be worse?

Still, I know it's hard on you to have to change your schedule around.

Hopefully your snow plow brigade out there can keep up. Or catch up.

Lunch - I get that too. Would be nice to get out, and yet..........

Hi Jim Boy! That's a TON of snow and so early in the year too. I don't know what to say 5 o'clock is sure early to go to bed. But it sounds like you have no choice in the matter. Hang in there. hugs-Stephanie
