Good Wednesday Mood
Wednesday, June 18, 2008 | A Positive story

Thursday, June 18, 2008 – 2:40 P.M.

Thanks to yesterday’s journey into downtown Denver, I have a sunburn today.  I was asked if I learned something about going somewhere without using sunscreen or wearing a cap. I shook my head, and replied, “I doubt it.”

This morning I had some adjustments made to my wheelchair seat so that I will not slump to my right side so much since this was causing some of my pain. It will be a few days before I know whether that worked.

Tomorrow morning I am going to my physical therapy clinic. I am supposed to get more traction for my back. I had a good night’s sleep yesterday, which was probably because I had much less pain than normal. I am cautiously optimistic that this kind of therapy will help a lot.

I am feeling better both physically and emotionally now. Not only have I been getting out of my apartment more often, but I have also been trying to go places on my own, which is helping me to regain some self-confidence. I am determined to overcome the agoraphobia, which I am sure has been making part of my life worse than it needs to be.

You have agoraphobia and you went into downtown Denver? I've been to downtown Denver. It's a busy place. I commented on yesterday's entry and now I'm wondering - how hard was it? On a scale of 1 to 10, how hard was the trip into downtown? What do you make of your near death experience and how it went your way?

You deserve a good day after that. I love it when good days come. I don't take them for granted.

The bank I use is in downtown Denver. I needed some cash, so there was some motivation for me to go there. Also, I used to live downtown. It was familiar territory to me. On your scale of 1 to 10, I would place my trip at 6. I told myself I had to do it, and I did - even though there were times when my hands were quite literally shaking.

As far as the train is concerned, it was not moving, but just getting ready to move. Getting around the buses was harder and more dangerous. I suspect that because I have had some suicidal tendencies in the past year, I really did not give much thought to getting run over, as strange as that must sound. I mean, what did I have to lose?

hey, I am glad you are in good spirits today. if agoraphobia is fear of crowded places or large numbers of people, or going places, I have that pretty bad, I don't know if it's fear or i just don't want to be around them. to much coming at me at once.

I hope you continue to notice a reduction in your pain. I have such empathy. *hug*
