Close Pemphigus
Recently diagnosed (June 2007) with Pemphigus. Very painful beginnings. Now (thankfully) being treated with cytoxan and prednisone. Struggling a lot with prednisone side effects. Found the International Foundation of Pemphigus and Pemphigoid very early during my illness that saved me. I am tapering on prednisone right now. Keeping my fingers crossed that I move to remission (I can dream, can' I)? This illness has made me reach out to spirituality more strongly than ever.
Treatments
- Clobetasol Working / Worked
- topically on wounds. helped a lot. No side effects.
- Cyclophosphamide Working / Worked
- Worked but with many side effects. Several sec infections, brought menopausal symptoms, anemia, fatigue, hair loss (wear a wig)...etc.
- Prednisone Working / Worked
- Started at 80 mg a day. Now on 30/15 alternate days tapering. So many side effects but the worst one is prednisone-induced diabetes. Hot flashes, moon face, obesity, buffalo hump, mood swings, back pain, etc.
