"Society today, is composed of a series of institutions. From political institutions, legal institutions, religious institutions. To institutions of social class, familiar values, and occupational specialization.
It is obvious, the profound influence these traditionalized structures have in shaping our understandings and perspectives. Yet, of all the social institutions, we are born into, directed by, and conditioned upon.. There seems to be no system as taken for granted, and misunderstood, as the monetary system.
Taking on nearly religious proportions, the established monetary institution exists as one of the most unquestioned forms of faith there is.How money is created, the policies by which it is governed, and how it truly affects society, are unregistered interests of the great majority of the population.
In a world where 1% of the population owns 40% of the planets wealth. In a world where 34.000 children die every single day from poverty and preventable diseases, and, where 50% of the world's population lives on less than 2 dollars a day... One thing is clear. Something is very wrong. And, whether we are aware of it or not, the lifeblood of all of our established institutions, and thus society itself, is money.
Therefore, understanding this institution of monetary policy is critical to understanding why our lives are the way they are. Unfortunately, economics is often viewed with confusion and boredom. Endless streams of financial jargon, coupled with intimidating mathematics, quickly deters people from attempts at understanding it. However, the fact is: The complexity associated with the financial system is a mere mask. Designed to conceal one of the most socially paralyzing structures, humanity has ever endured."

Yeah I remember watching a documentary about this- its very frustrating. Makes you angry, makes you want to do something; but, what can you do?

When we get the numbers, we're going to do something. So right now it's about educating yourself, others, and trying to show that people are dedicated and simply waiting for more help, which is coming gradually. There are changes you can make which seem to have nothing to do with money but they do, it's of course not all about money.
Ultimately it has to come from you though, you can't take part in these things to please others, it has to be something that clicks in you. ]
I couldn't deny that having cancer at 13 has something to do with the way I am, and being agnostic / atheist whatever you want to call it. My life isn't spectacular right now but I can see how beautiful life can be with the simplest ingrediants and how exciting the human progression through science and space could be.. so I believe all life should be improved and preserved.
It's funny because I think if you studied some of the ideas that have brought this thing together your question would be answered :P
Jiddu Krishnamurti said: You are the world, and the world is you.
Basically, we are not and cannot be seperate from the world no matter how hard we try. Even our absence has a dramatic affect on the way things turn out.

The small changes I meant were .. consumerism. Cut down what you consume. Take care of yourself, try to eat a raw / vegan diet (if the research satisfies you) Don't buy pharmacutical products or keep them to a minimum (what we poor down our drains gets back into our rivers and soil, our water system)
There's so many things we're brainwashed to believe. Like if we don't wash our hair every day we're a 'skank'. We are told some products are free range if the chicken can see a small patch of the sky, that food is organic when it isn't.
Most importantly we are led to believe employment is neccessary for survival. While in some senses it's true it is only because of how we are conditioned to consume, al that demand for crap means.. employment. When you stop consuming so much, you fuck it up for them. When you become a human being, not a consumer, you throw a spanner in the works. I still buy things, I have to, but I buy sparingly.
If you ever wonder what you can do .. or would like to discuss or prove to me there's nothing you can do, I'd gladly sit down and discuss it :P
