I am currently a graduate student at Washington State University. I have two very supportive parents and two great brothers and a sister. Throughout my illness I have always tried to maintain a strong relationship with God (there have been times where we haven't been the best of friends).

Close Crohn's Disease & Ulcerative Colitis
I was diagnosed with UC at age 14. I remained active in sports all through high school and college despite several flare ups. I went into remission at 22 for 3 years and was "completely cured" according to the colonoscopy. All that came to a halt in 2006 and I have been battling it ever since. I've recently been diagnosed with Crohn's so I'm learning to handle what comes my way; the good, the bad and the ugly!
Treatments
- Asacol Working / Worked
- It worked for 7 1/2 years.
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Somewhat Helpful
- Colazal Not Working
- It worked for my UC but not when it progressed to Crohn's.
- Entocort Not Working
- Flagyl Not Working
- Made things worse.
- Prednisone Somewhat Helpful
- Helps with flare ups to get immediate results.
- Probiotics Working / Worked
- I eat a yogurt once a morning everyday and it's working fantastically.
- Purinethol Working / Worked
- Have to get blood tests often to keep my liver balanced, it gave me jaundice once. It also causes my hair to not grow and fall out.
- Remicade Somewhat Helpful
- Worked for a brief amount of time.
- Humira Working / Worked
- I have been on it since February and it has helped a lot. In September I went from every other week to every week due to a severe flare up.
