Ok, here's a question: Why do we pay so much for health insurance if it doesn't get us anywhere or aid us when we need it to???
Today I went to refill my Protonix prescription and was told that I could not refill it as my insurance would not cover it. When I asked why I was told that I used up my 90 day/90 tablet limit that my insurance has put on this type of drug class. This is completely ridiculous. I've finally been put on something that's working to improve how I've been feeling in regards to my stomach/abdominal pains and discomfort and now I can't continue the treatment because my insurance company has some stupid limitation to how many pills I can have in a 90 day period. How am I supposed to feel better if I can't continue the course of my prescription that was given to me by my doctor? I only have 2 days worth of pills left and then after that I'm back to suffering unless the case my doctor is making to the insurance company is approved and accepted which can take 2-3 business days. It's just really annoying and, in my mind, unacceptable that I pay so much for a so called "fantastic" insurance and yet when I need to use it I can't. I'm really hoping and praying that my case is accepted because this is the only drug that has helped me and I can't afford to pay over $300 for a month's supply of pills. That would be almost $1000 for 3-months which would be the next time my insurance company allows me to refill my prescription. Ugh, I'm so aggravated...
In other news I had a pretty great weekend this past weekend. Spent Saturday night in Boston with my boy to celebrate our 1-year anniversay. Took in a show, had a great dinner and just relaxed. It was something that we both needed. It started off a bit rocky as I drove in and we got lost for a bit (he was the direction giver... haha) but it ended up being a really nice day/night. We had planned on going to the Aquarium the next morning but we ended up sleeping in a bit and it was horrible out in regards to the weather so we skipped that and just headed home. It was nice to spend a night away though. I think that this weekend we're just going to hang low and play Scrabble or watch a movie as the weather is going to be crappy. That's alright with me though. After a hectic week, a nice, quiet, relaxing night in sounds just right to me. :)
