I have located a new type of doctor called a chiropractic neurologist... www.nofibro.com. He is located only 30 miles from me and has trained under a fibro specialist that has been researching fibro since the 1980's. I have an appointment for a free consultation Nov. 5th. The cost of his treatments are reasonable and look promising. I encourage those of you with fibro or any other types of chronic pain to check out his website. These are drug free treatments and focus on the cause rather than treating the symptoms. I will post info about my progress here and if it works I will post to the main boards. If you or anyone you know has tried these treatments please write to me. It consists of oxygen treatments to promote healing and brain based therapy to address the cause of fibro and chronic pain. These are completely drug free treatments and this doctor and the one who trained him have had very good results.
I am going to try again to quit smoking. I would be grateful for prayer support in this endeavor as well as for my pain issues. The quiting smoking is going to be extremely difficult but necessary. I have tried many times and failed but I will never give up. Please pray for God to give me strength and success in putting the cigarettes down permanately. Thank you all and I love you guys.

Definately keep us updated! Ya gotta love a doctor than doesn't run to drugs!! And I will pray for you as well that the cigarettes will have no appeal to you. Are you going to try anything to help? I used the patches in the past...and this time (my FINAL quit) I only used them for 2 weeks. Today is day 49 for me and 90% of the time I don't give them a thought...even though my mom, sis-n-law and friend (all smokers) are often over to play cards.

I have read some really good things about the oxygen therapy and wish that we had someone who would do it here locally and at a reasonable price. But sadly now. It is not only for people with fibro but many other complaints and diseases as well.
Yes quitting smoking is hard. Have you considered using the nicotine gum? That is what worked for me but you have to want to quit otherwise it is just another way to get the nicotine (as one of our neighbours is finding out). Might pay to look into some sort of herbal rescue (sorry can't remember the name of it) that helps with the withdrawal symptoms. My gf used it and it was the only thing that helped her get over them.
