Woke up at 2:30 a.m. Saturday. Felt like I was freezing even though I was under several covers. Changed my shirt and went back to bed. Tried to go back to sleep but couldn't get comfortable. Finally moved downstairs to the sofa. I slept there when I first came home after my surgery. Thought it might work. It didn't. I was still cold. Got out an electric blanket. I felt like all my muscles were being pulled from inside my core. I couldn't stretch them out. I think I finally went back to sleep about 4. Woke up at 7. Went back upstairs and slept til 9.
Sunday I realized why this scenario felt so familiar. When I had foot surgery in the mid-90s my podiatrist gave me a prescription for oxycotin. I was on it for three weeks when a big splash hit Time magazine. I threw the stuff away and came off it cold turkey. Slept on the floor for three nights feeling the same thing I felt Saturday morning. Withdrawal.
Now I need to figure out what this doctor's plan is for getting me off the percoset. There must be a bridge drug to get me off this one. Or I have to see a pain management doctor. They know how to get you off something without going through a painful withdrawal.
I have to keep taking the percoset because when I don't I do have pain. Pain keeps your body preoccupied and then you aren't healing. My right arm muscles are shrinking in size. I am afraid of what physical therapy is going to be like.
