Okay, so I say to my shrink, "I am miserable with this fat on me and yet I know how to take it off but I'm eating when I'm not hungry and I'm eating at night."
She said, "If you want to lose weight and you are eating more than you should, why are you over eating?"
I say, "I'm just uncomfortable and anxious, bored or have some empty feeling."
She said, "Then THAT is your area of focus, NOT your eating or your WEIGHT. Take care of your anxiety and what it is you are really cravingk and needing. When you make a commitment to do something and you come up short of your commitment because of an obstacle, that very obstacle is your ANSWER. That is where your work and energy needs to go.
So, my new diet is to eat when I'm hungry. Not to eat when I'm not hungry and to make sure I eat when I am. Imagine that! What's so damn fun about it is that I DO get hungry so I KNOW I get to eat. Because I really do love to eat. It's so wonderful. I'm also practicing "hara hachi bu" which I think is Okinawan where you eat until you are 80% full. Not 100%. So, this has been okay and working for the past few days. I also realized the things that are really upsetting me are getting more attention. So, I feel better for right now.
