Dear DS Friends,
First the good news. I successfully completed my detox off the fentyl patch and the dilaudid after only a 3 day hospital stay. They did it cold turkey(per my request) because I didn't want a long, dragged out withdrawal. During the detox, I slept for the first 48 hours, then I was awake the rest of the time, and I felt fine. I made 2 new friends- 2 teenage girls who adopted me as their mom. Hopefully, I was able to help them, and give them courage for what they needed to do to make changes in their lives.
I apologize for this tiny print, but I couldn't find a place to adjust the print size.
When I got home from the hospital, I had to rush my husband, Charlie, to the ER because he was having trouble breathing. On the way over, he actually smoked a cigarette. I couldn't believe it! The ER doc tooh a chest X-ray, did blood work, gave him a breathing treatment, and pronouced him ok to go home. I thought that was a bad idea. He smoked a cigarette on the way home. Less than 2 hours later, he couldn't breathe again.

I am so sorry that you had to go through this right after your hospital stay. You are certainly being challenged aren't you? Your husband has obviously made up his mind that he will continue to smoke for whatever time he has left and unfortunately you have no control over that. Please take care of yourself and know that I'm here for you. Did I give you my email address? Let me know if you'd like to have it.

A man with a wife like you could make better choices, I would think. It is so sad that your husband has apparently chosen to die.
