    • Thumbs Up

      From Tootsann April 22

I have just finished 8 days on solumedrol, and have been on the taper pills for about 2 weeks. I know how hard it is to sleep, and not to want to eat in the night. I never, ever did this before, and I am so bloated and puffy - everyone comments on it when I see them, so I have been staying home a lot, as I don't feel well. I am afraid I will need more solumedrol, as I am still very numb and not well at all, maybe this is just permanent damage. Sorry to hear that you have to deal with a wheelchair, I have not gotten to that stage yet, even after 18 years with MS. I do have chronic pain, numbness and extreme weakness though. This last exacerbation was one of the worst ever, and I am hoping to get on Tysabri when I find out if my insurance will cover most of it. Good luck to you, and try and keep positive with your quilting and music. I am a painter, but have not felt well enough to do anything for the past few months. I missed an entire session of my art class, and miss my friends. Feel so isolated!

    • Close Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
      Type: Relapsing-remitting MS

I've been diagnosed with MS since 1989. My youngest daughter was 2. It has been difficult at times, but I can honestly say I have made it "worse" by taking on stressful activities. I didn't work for 17 years...went to work, and immediately had exacerbations and changes in the disease.

      Treatments

      Avonex Working / Worked
First ABC drug I was on. Did pretty good. Went to work and changed drugs.
      Baclofen Working / Worked
      Betaseron Working / Worked
I do not like the "spots" from the injection. I would love to have a resolution of that.
      Copaxone Somewhat Helpful
Moved to the betaseron when my exacerbations came more frequently.
      Neurontin Working / Worked
      Physical Therapy Working / Worked
      Prednisone Working / Worked
      Solumedrol Working / Worked
      Breathing Exercises Working / Worked
It is amazing what a little oxygen can do for your body. I find I am more alert and have more energy. The exacerbation I am experiencing now is not too bad and I think it is due to breathing better. I also sleep better.
      Lyrica Working / Worked
I was moved from Neurontin to Lyrica and I am very happy with the results...It helps tremendously with nerve pain and I know that if ever I need more that is an option...and it does not go through my liver!
    • Close Diets & Weight Maintenance

I'm desperate. On too many meds...they are necessary. I don't like food...don't feel strong enough to fix food many times. I think I will try the atkins diet and then weightwatchers...those two did work for me. I've maintained a loss of 16 lbs for 4 years, I need to lose 50 more.

      Treatments

      Atkins Diet Working / Worked
LA Weight Loss Working / Worked
      very good program
      Slim-Fast Working / Worked
      Weight Watchers Working / Worked
will work if I follow it faithfully.
    • Open Blindness & Visual Impairment
      Type: Low Vision

my Dad is having surgeries for glaucoma, and for dry eyes...it appears that he is slowly losing his sight, and I just want support to be able to support him.

      Treatments

      Laser Surgery Not Working
dad is putting drops in his eyes constantly, and he is slowly getting unable to function.
      Surgery, Trabeculoplasty Working / Worked
he has this surgery on the 3rd of December. he is concerned rightly so.
    • Open Insomnia

I have difficulty sleeping through the night...some restless legs...a too active mind...and I have MS.

      Treatments

      Ambien Working / Worked
      afraid of getting addicted
      Meditation Working / Worked
don't work hard enough at it
      Music Working / Worked
IPOD on my head in the middle of the night with relaxing music.
