    • About Me

Retired from the military in 2004, Married, 5 kids, 2 dogs, christian. Thought I would get a house in the woods by a lake and just "coast". Live out my life and raise my kids, finally putting down roots after 6 tours overseas. Aparently God had other plans. In June of 07 I became unable to ignore the tremors in my right arm. Sept 07 I was diagnosed with adult early onset parkinsons. I didn't have any pain, when I walk, my left arm swings naturally with my gate while my right arm just stays stationary. Well, if you don't count the tremors I have in that arm that never seem to go away. I'm trying to keep my mind set on the fact that, while this is not part of my plan, it is just... something that irritates me, sometimes embarasses me, is part of God's plan. That was then, now the pain is something along with weakness, loss of dexterity and balance that I have learned to live with. And I am thankful for every day that I have with my family and friends.

Swimming, Paintball with my kids, motorcycling(sold due to progression of my PD). Have 2 dogs: Vizsla (red weimeriner looking hound who acts like he is on crack), and a Basset hound (looks like he's been on a bender, has cat-like reflexes when a treat is involved but then has to take a nap).

    • Hug

      From disid May 1

Thanks for the hug & support. My organizational mtg went well. I am in FL (a Snowbird) and will be heading north mid-May. Six people were at the meeting and we agreed to meet 2xmonth starting in Oct. We also had a great discussion on 'attitude'. I started a support group 4 yrs ago in MA and it is still going strong. It has become family and a blessing to all of us. I chuckled when you referred to Meshach, etc. My husband loves to tell the story of when he was in Sunday School and tried to remember their names. He memorized them as Meshach, Shadrach, and To-Bed-We-Go. Thanks again. Diane P.S. Did you by any chance take time to read my journal?
