No! not too young at all - I was chatting to a 15 year old the other day, from the Self-injury group as I am am a member there because I have that history myself and recovered from it, so I try to support the younger members (some are 12-13 years old).

I don't go to church much, but have been doing some Bible studying with a friend. He sends me a new passage out of the Bible every day, and I just look it up and underline them in my Bible. Hope it helps and works for you. Good luck.
