We have had a great summer so far. I am enjoying the garden. Matthew is busy teaching swimming lessons and I have been able to bake the cookies each day. We have just returned from a relaxing few days at Mark's sister's cottage near Mt. Tremblant in Quebec. Melissa had a few days off and was able to come along too.
A few weeks ago I had a CT scan of my chest area. Although the blood and urine tests indicate my cancer is in remission the CT indicated some further bone damage and increased tumour load. The doctors at PMH feel that it is in my best interest to have a second stem cell transplant quickly (before August). I am scheduled to go into the hospital on July 28th. Although it will mean another grueling round of chemo and the associated side effects at least I know what to expect and I will be going into to it a little healthier than last time. I expect to be in the hospital for about three weeks. It will likely be toward the end of September before I regain some strength again. Although I am not excited about the process our faith is still strong and we are still praying for a complete cure. We know that you will join us in that prayer. Please also keep Mark, Melissa and Matthew in your prayers.
God bless,
Marlene

The good news is Marlene has been able to do her gardening. Also she is in remission. She has been able to reduce her pain meds but not completely because of the pain in her back and shoulders. This is the damage MM did. The bad news is she has a lump in she left breast. Her blood pressure has gone high and she has some swelling on her left side. She had an ultrasound yesterday to check for a clot, there is none. She has a mamogram and ultrasound on her left breast today. Marlene does not have to have a second transplant but will be going on maintenance drugs because of translocation 4-14. Well there always seems to be something going on. Hope to find out soon what is going on.

That is good news for you both. I hope and pray that everything goes well with the mamogram and ultrasound today. Keep in touch.
