    • About Me

I'm 18, just finished high school a month or so ago (graduated in May '07 though). I work at Earls in the kitchen.I love animals, photography and music. I absolutely love reading. I love meeting new people, so don't be afraid to talk to me.

I really feel for your whole family. It's never an easy thing dealing with people who are addicted to anything and I know it is hard to except the fact that your sister is different from what she used to be. But try to remember one thing. Your sister has chosen this life and it has nothing to do with you. Sometimes people really need to hit rock bottom to come back up. I have a husband who is addicted to alcohol and drugs and he keeps telling me one thing and doing another. I used to believe him but I think I got to the point when I realized that he will not change until he (and only he) sees that this is a problem. I told him few months ago that he has to chose between us and his addiction and I am prepared to walk out with the kids. That is the first time he said out loud that he has a problem. Until then "I was the one with the problem". I felt like a big burden was lifted of me. Maybe your mum is doing the right thing. Maybe "tough love" is just what your sister needs. Tell her you'll be there for her 100% but only if she is willing to get help.

      Treatments

      Art Working / Worked
I can't really draw, but pulling out my sketchbook and my art tools and just drawing away helps.
      Music Working / Worked
Back when my depression was really bad, I believe music is what helped to keep me alive.
      Pets Working / Worked
My cat, Nermal, definitely helped, and still helps me through the hard times.
      Prozac Working / Worked
I was weary about going on medication, but it helped. I haven't taken it a few months due to not having money, but I've been managing without it.
Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
When coming to terms with the fact that I was depressed, my mom was and still is my saving grace. I was afraid to talk to her about what I was going through, but once I started, it helped a lot.
      Writing Working / Worked
Venting in a online journal always works for me. There's something about telling complete strangers about what you're going through, and receiving their input and advice.

I have been with my boyfriend for 10 months. Our start was rocky, and we've had some problems but we're now doing good and talk things out when an issue arises, instead of fighting.
