I am a married (for 13yrs.) at home mom (for 6yrs.) with 3 young children. Before that I had a great career as a medical assistant in a busy pediatric office (for 7yrs.). I have an ADHD 10 yr.old son (the inattentive type), an ADHD 6 yr.old daughter (the combined or "classic" type with hyperactive, impulsive, & inattentive) (my husband & I also have ADHD) and I have a 7 yr.old daughter in the middle who's gifted. I have a genetic condition called EDS III, (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Hypermobility Type III). And it seems that I have passed it on to all 3 of my young children. The fun side is that we are very flexible. The dark side is that it is a connective tissue disorder and can and has caused complications with us such as... Problems with our joints (dislocations & injuries), heart problems (valve prolapse, regurgitation, vessel widening, tachycardia, & low blood pressure), vein problems (varicous, clots, & failure), spinal disc problems (scoliosis & disc injury), eye problems (vision, nearsighted), ear problems (ear drum problems & hearing loss), gastric problems (valve problems & function failure), skin problems (thin sensative skin, bad scarring & injure easily), and chronic pain and fatigue. Nothing can be done accept be aware, stay fit and healthy, and try to prevent injury and do the same especially with my children. My husband was in a bad car accident recently causing ruptured and bulging spinal discs and he also struggled with being over weight, where myself and my children have the opposite problem.

Sorry I have not been on here much, but have started my new job at the school(teaching assistant) and its going realy well. I work with two boys one age 7 and the other age 10, they both have dyslexia like me, The 10 year old would not even look at me in the class room, but now he always smiles and says thank you for helping him.The 7 year lod on the other hand still dont want to look at me, but I'm hoping to change that this week for he needs to learn his alpabet and for this he needs a one to one and thats me, so hopefuly he too will get to like me in the same way. I love this job and its made such a difference to the way I see myself, not just dyslexic but knowing I can do some good and pass on my confidence. HUGS JAA
i know how you feel , i don't let anyone know about any medications i am on either,,it's your business.
I have EDS III (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome type III Hypermobility. Was disgnosed a little over a year ago and all three of my young children soon there after. I have scoliosis, mitral valve prolapse, widened atrophic scarring, gallbladder failure and removal though was 26 and thin, joint dislocations, knee surgery at 13, child birth problems, severe varicous veins though was 28 and thin, bruising, near sightedness, hearing loss, and problems with fatigue and pain.
My 9 yr. old has just been diagnosed with ADHD. We will have our 5 yr. old assessed this fall, it seems that she has it also (they more than likely got it from my husband and I).
My mother's brother committed suicide about 3 weeks ago and my mother's father committed suicide about 10 years ago. I have had a lot of therapy over the years and use it to help my mother and I think I can help here too.
I have EDS Hypermobility III and have struggled with pain for as long as I can remember.
I have mitral valve prolapse with regurgitation, tachycardia, and low blood pressure, because I have EDS so I have an ultrasound on my heart and see a cardiologist every year so they can make sure it doesn't get worse.
I have EDS III Hypermobility...
