I've just quit smoking not that was a really smoked at all maybe 2or3 a day it helps with the pain of diverticulitis and IBS I don't know the particulars of how smoking helps but for some reason it does (and the patch does not have the same effect). My husband was the real smoker in the family and I quit to help him and I really don't like smoking but it's been 2 weeks and the pain is back and the nausea, running a fever and all the other symptons. I really don't know what to do because I feel awful and I don't want to smoke (no cravings at all) I really don't like the smell or the taste of ciggies. But what I don't like even more is being to sick to move and feeling nauseous. I'm at the end of my rope have tied a knot and just trying to hang on.

Poor baby, I'm so sorry your are hurting.
If the cigarettes were helping and you only smoked 2-3 a day, I don't see any harm in it. I am an ex smoker who was really addicted to nicotine for 30 years, I would love to have ONE cigarette a day but I would fall off the wagon and I can't do that because I have breathing problems! I agree they do stink something awful, I love having fresh smelling hair. Maybe you could put on a "smoking" jacket and hat and smoke outside when the hubby is not around!
Anyways, I pray that you will feel better what ever your decision. Big hugs to you, Love Joy
