I am 16 years sober, and my partner is recovering drug addict and alcoholic- he too has been sober for about 19 years now. WARNING...EARLY RECOVERY IS A BITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( excuse my foul language.....i usually don't swear but there is no other way to say it. A good psychiatrist can be your best friend. Drugs are drugs- be it over the counter, prescription or illegal. Careful to follow the treatment plan. I get terrible urges to self-medicate. I am still a addict, always will be. I have to treat my prescription drugs with respect. They are powerful.
