It's been a few days since I have written in my journal.. gosh, so many things have happened..
First of all, the MRI showed 4 messed up disc in Frankie's back.. 2 of which are breaking off due to athritis (not good) In 2006, when he had his last back surgery there was only 3 messed up then, so another one has been added to the list.
Of course, no surgery for a year due to the heart attack and taking Plavix.. so the Back Dr. sent him to the pain clinic.. BUT bad news came there as well.. they are limited to their treatment with Frankie, due to taking PLAVIX... all they could do was put him on Norco, a muscle relaxer and started him on Lyrica.... the Norco was 3 times a day.. I had to call the pain clinic back today ,the Norco neing taken every 8 hours was not no where near enough.... so they increased him to 4 a day and wants him back in next Monday. They were very understanding about everything.
We talked to our family Dr about what was going on.. and she advised us to apply for permanent SS disability.. so we called and talked to the back Dr. who agreed, stating that there was no way to even begin to tell what MORE damage was gonna be showing up next year when they had to repeat the MRI again before being able to operate.. that Frankie would never be the same again. He told us he would do everything he could to help him get on his disability. We know that the heart Dr. will do whatever.. because the year wait is due to the medicine he has Frankie on.
Our main concern is that Frankie is 42 and will have had 3 back surgery's at the age of 43. That is NOT good.. we are thinking ahead to some point, even if the surgery next year brings him complete relief, which is very doubtful, it is only a matter of time until a 4th surgery will arise.. the back Dr. said that after surgery next year.. when things got bad again, all there was left to do was put hardware in his back.. and that would mean .. it would be over then... so we are trying to buy Frankie as much time as we can, and that means not working and taking care of his back, he also said that driving a truck was bad on his back as well.
We have an appt with our family Dr. in the morning, then we are gonna go to the SS office and start the process.I humbly ask each of you to say a prayer as we begin this process,
Frankie has already had to be put on something for depression. My heart aches for him, he is in pain constantly.
We are still hanging on to our faith in the Lord, he will get us through this.I believe that with all my heart.

You should ask the doctor if frankie can take curamin for pain. Go to the web site www.Dukeandthedoctor.com and click on the store . Curamin can be found there. I have had several friends swear by it But I have not had to try it myself yet. It's natural and can be bought at a health food store or you can by it on line. The site lists the ingredients so you can make a copy of it and take it to your doctors to see if you can try it. At this point in time if the meds are not working it is definately worth a try.

Sorry to hear all this Lori. I know how devastated all of you feel but I know you are trusting in the Lord. My hub was 37 when he injured his back and has not worked a day since. His is nerve damage so no surgery will work. I understand exactly how you feel. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers and will continue to be.
