I'm a graduate student who was diagnosed with lupus 2 years ago. I'm struggling to maintain who i was before lupus with the symptoms of the disease. Needless to say, it's taking an emotional and physical toll on me.
My lupus medications caused my neurotransmitters to become unbalanced, causing me to have major depression...also coping with 1, maybe 2, chronic illnesses doesn't help either!
Shortly before finals week at the end of my last fall semester, I was in the ER 3 times in a week. The normal drugs giving to me for lupus just weren't working. My white blood cell count was high and i was having absolutely horrible hip and shoulder pain despite pain medication. As a complication with my lupus and a virus, I also was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis.
