I have a herniated disc at L4-5, 4 herniated discs in my neck-at C 3-4, C4-5, C5-6 and C6-7. Two of them are impinging my cervical cord and tendinosis in my right shoulder. Also, DDD, spinal stenosis and fibromyalgia. In addition: asthma, chronic bronchitis, a vision problem that causes me to see dark spots (posterior viterous detachment) and depression because of all the crap. I stopped working in June of 2006 because the pain was so severe and sitting at a computer made it even worse, even getting up and moving around periodically. I've tried so many things to help the pain, short of surgery and have become very discouraged.

That sucks that you had surgery that didn't help your pain. Mine's not really any bette. rven though…
Thinking of you Dorothy and wondering how you are progressing with your healing... I know they said any benefit to your pain would most likely take some time to occur... but is the surgery area feeling better now? I am quite down still... mainly re issues around dad's passing. I hope it will become a bit easier given time. Sorry I have not been very supportive recently... it doesn't ever mean I have forgotten you. Sending hugs and smiles... and a big bunch of spring flowers.
Take care... xxx

Bunches of flowers for you to enjoy. You are cared for and prayed for . You just hold on and don't forget to pray for yourself too.Rest in His comfort and healing. Lillian74
Still around although I'm not really very happy. I did get lucky for Thanksgiving - just my son and me. I'll still cook the whole dinner but no getting me or the house ready and I don't have to go anywhere. Hope you get out of going to the in-laws. Seems awful soon after surgery to spend a day away (see if that works)! Take care and I hope things work out.
That's what happened to me. After they did surgery on my mid back to remove a mass and make sure it wasn't malignant, (not to reduce pain) the pain in my back increased and started higher up in the back than before. And the mass was just junk from the disk. So increased pain with no benefit. That's what makes me mad - maybe they could have just done a needle biopsy and found out what was going on. But surgeons want to do surgery and now I have to explain to everyone looking at my file that the surgery had nothing to do with my real problem - pain. Hope it will be different for you.
Just to impress your mother-in-law watch Dr. Drew's Sex Rehab on VH1. That should make better table conversation (ha). Saturday I lunch with my ex-boss, his wife and two retired buddies from work. Hope they have alot to say cause I really don't want to talk Sex Rehab with them.
Hope we both feel better soon or at least find something to make us feel more useful.
Keep in touch - you help me if that's any consolation

Hi. I've been in pain for more than 5 years. I have a herniated disc at L4-5, disc bulge with bone spurs at C5-6 and tendinosis in my right shoulder. Also, DDD, spinal stenosis and fibromyalgia I'd like to be able to talk to people who suffer from chronic pain and understand what I'm dealing with. Sometimes it's hard to go on and I get really down.
I have had problems with depression most of my life, but it got 3 times as bad when I started experiencing chronic pain more than five years ago. Sometimes it's hard just to get out of bed.
Hi. I have low back pain due to a disc herniation at L4-5 and neck pain caused by disc bulge at c5-6. The pain from my neck also radiates to my shoulders and I get spasms in my upper back. Would like to talk to people who understand.
Was in the Air Force for 4 years from 1978-82. Luckily during peace time. Didn't get the GI Bill but have no health insurance so the VA hospital is an invaluable source of health care.
I've had DDD that I know of for about 6 years. The pain keeps getting worse combined with the other problems I have.
I stopped working in June of 2006 because of severe chronic pain. I applied for SSDI which takes forever. According to my attorney it will probably another year before I go before the judge for my hearing. I am married but he is self employed. Money is really tight so we don't go out or do much. Luckily he paid the house off before he even met me, so that's not a problem.
