    • About Me

Married since 2000. Started trying for a baby shortly after marriage. DH travels with work, so we assumed that was the main problem. In 2006, I saw a specialist, and tried numerous things (clomid cycles) and an IVF cycle that did not work. Second IVF cycle worked, but we lost our baby at 22 weeks. :( I have Neurofibromatosis (type 1), which is a relatively common genetic condition of nerve tissue. It affects 1 in 2500 of the population.

    • Close Pregnancy After Loss/Infertility

Finally got pregnant through IVF after years of waiting -- lost baby Elisabeth at 22 weeks gestation.

    • Close Neurofibromatosis

NF1 (Thanks, Mom!) :) Have had 2 tumors removed, one large one that was on my side at my waist (2.5-3 lbs) and a small one on my hand.

    • Open Infertility

just over 7 weeks along after 2nd IVF attempt...

      Treatments

      Clomid Not Working
DID NOT work. Made my usually VERY REGULAR cycle unpredictible. :-D
      Folic Acid Working / Worked
Taking this for prevention of neural tube defects; does not "help one get pregnant".
      HSG (Hysterosalpingography) Somewhat Helpful
I have undergone this procedure twice. While it is uncomfortable, I did not experience a great deal of pain during nor after the procedure(s).
      Hysteroscopy Somewhat Helpful
We at least know that my tubes work. Uncomfortable, but not very painful. Since our hospital on base is a learning facility I had the joy of having about 6 medical students all looking at *me* for this. HAHAHA
In Vitro Fertilization Working / Worked
Second Attempt: Successful so far, first ultrasound showed 1 heartbeat of 2, but 2 sacs. Waiting for the next u/s to see if the other catches up or disappears... First attempt: Two embryos (out of 30) fertilized and divided as they should, but did not implant or result in pregnancy (first round of IVF). We plan to try again soon...
      Lupron Working / Worked
Used Lupron in addition Gonal F, and Menopur. Responded very well - produced a lot of follicles. Had no side effects. "Insomnia" is listed as a side effect but I have had that my entire life. :D
      Ovulation Predictor Kit Not Working
Did not work... out of about 7 months, the surge was not detected by the home tests.
      Progesterone Somewhat Helpful
Not much fun in intramuscular injections... but overall not so bad. With each shot, that muscle was sore until it was time to 'stab' another spot.
      Repronex Working / Worked
Did what it was supposed to do... I responded well to it and had a lot of follicles, but none of them got me to a BFP.
