Well, last night was filled with drunken fireworks in my neighborhood. I'm glad to say there were no injuries that I am aware of, although that surprises me, I gotta be honest! The newest of our neighbors, the ones directly across the street, had a big party last night in their front yard. Complete with alcohol and little fireworks. I have to give them credit, I don't think they were doing any illegal ones, though I wouldn't know. The closest I've ever been to handling a firecracker is a sparkler. They had ones that whiz-banged, ones that flew up into the air and spun around, and ones that were just loud. It was the ones we couldn't see a few blocks away that were very loud that freaked out Ruby Dee at one point while I was trying to get her to poop outside. Every time she'd relax, another one would go off, and she'd be back in the house! Luckily they didn't go on for very long. From my front porch, I can see the tops of two professional shows, the whiz-bangers the folks across the street were using, some more serious ones the neighbors behind them were using, a little bit of the quieter ones some peeps down the street were setting off, and I could hear even more from the blocks surrounding me. It sounds a little like a war zone around here on the 4th! Except for Ruby's poopus interruptus, the animals handled it fairly well, though. Junior was a little more snuggly than usual last night, but other than that, everyone seemed pretty cool about it all. They know they are safe in our house and take most everything in stride!
Yesterday we didn't do a whole heck of a lot. I did dishes, I set up the new toaster oven, and we watched movies on TV. Hubby played with his new toys, too. For dinner we had hamburgers and beef hot dogs and baked beans. We were so stuffed, we didn't even have dessert! We watched Macy's fireworks and then the Boston fireworks on TV, I checked out the neighborhood ones from the front porch, and we finished the evening with Britcoms and new Dr. Who on PBS. I headed to bed around midnight, as per usual for Saturday night, but Hubby said he'd stay up just a little later. I crawled into bed, and soon found myself trapped between Junior between my legs and Caramel Corn in my left armpit. I couldn't reach the light, or take my glasses off, but I figured Hubby would be in soon, could take a picture, or his arrival would convince someone to shift, and I'd be free. Well, 30 minutes later, I start calling for him because I'm tired and I want to go to sleep, but I can't! After 10 minutes, he finally hears me, and his arrival caused Caramel Corn to move. *sigh* I shifted Junior a bit, got the light turned off and my glasses off, and was able to (sort of) sleep.
I woke up a few times in the night with shifting cats, but got about 9 hours all total, I think. I'm a bit achy for some reason, though. Not sure why.
Nothing but Sunday chores on the schedule for today. I need to do laundry and prepare my breakfasts for the week ahead. 5 working days this week! How will I survive after all these weeks of only two days? Oy. I also need to re-do the dishes since there is still food on half of them. Grrrrr. I can't wait for my new dishwasher!! Which reminds me, I have to find a new kitchen sink, too, so they can replace the sink at the same time. Eek! Long story. Anyway...lots of chores to be done today! Happy Sunday!

What IS it with cats and sleep this week??? Full moon?
