Hi Dal, Finally home after nearly 8 weeks - phew! Some days were diamonds, some days were gold - others were just plain old gravel! Hope you are doing OK too. No fishing this weekend - too stormy here (5 metre swell). Not for me, I'm a land-lubber! Take care and cheers.

Hi Dal, I am on my way to Perth, need to organise some care/help for my elderly parents. Dad is suffering with advancing dementia and we've had a couple of close shaves of late. Not sure how long I'll be gone, but all the best and I'll look forward to catching up with you when I get back. Take care and cheers.

Dal, you have the patience of a saint! Just been re-reading through the "disability" thread - how do you keep sane while all this is (or not) going on? I'm teetering on the edge right now of needing to go onto temporary disability and I'll use your information as an example of just how it might go. I'm hoping those joints are not hurting too bad right now. Take care and all the best.

Hi Dalraida, how are you going? Well, I'm still waiting for the "wonderdrug" Humira to still kick in (Week 11 this week). We've got to live in hope that something one day will do the trick hey? I'm hoping you are not suffering too badly right now and hopefully enjoying a bit of warmer weather. Our winter is just starting and tomorrow we are expecting the first gale-force storm of the season - yeeha I can't wait for a bit of rain. Take care and all the best. Cheers

Hi Dal, I'm just downloading an Easter egg for you - hope it comes through OK although it's so hot here today there is a risk of it melting sorry!! Hope you have a good Easter. I'm staying home and letting all the rest of the population have holiday fun (sigh). All the best.

Hi Dalraida. Back in the Vietnam War (early 70's) time, non-nationals in Australia who served in the Aust Army were give an "other" category of "mercanary" according to the Geneva Convention. In 1975, this was changed so that all those joining up took up automatic citizenship of the country. Something to do with swearing allegiance to Queen and country. So this makes my other half, still a "mercanary"; but he does apparently get a discount when he undertakes his Australian citizenship ceremony! He is so chuffed!!!!!! LOL. I work between a couple of country hospitals here is West Australia and we have residential aged care facilities attatched to each health service. You sound like you work in a similar facility. We're really devoted to our residents (they are like family and give us a heap of laughs each day, but I know what you mean when you say somedays you feel a bit more debilitated than they are. We have a little lady of 104yrs who beats me for dead some days! Sorry to hear your medications give you such grief. I have just jumped onto the medication-wheel and commenced Cortisone. Like a double-edged sword hey? Don't want to live with them and can't live without them! Have a good week and plenty of Ho Ho Ho. Cheers.

Hi Dalraida. Thanks and have a good week too. I wish I could say I'm good, but having been recently seen by the Rheumatologist; who has just started me on Cortisone and wants me to commence Humira. He thinks I have a severe onset because the pain radiated from my hips/lower back up into my neck (and now out into my arms/legs) within the space of 4-6 weeks. Do you have to take heaps of medication also?? I think I can smell fish oil oozing out of my pores - either that or it's my husbands fishing clothes!!! My husband parents emigrated to Aust when he was 9 and he served in the Aust army back in the 70's. He's always had a UK passport, but now he has found out that he is not considered to be an Aust citizen after living here for 42yrs! He has to go through the whole rigmorol, just like all new migrants. Dont ask him for his comment on it - it would be censored! Cheers

Hi, I've been reading some of your threads of late and saw you were not feeling good right now. I am new to the group and the AS diagnosis; and just wanted to help say "Hang in there - it will get better soon". Take care.
