Journal Entry for January 2, 2008 Mood
Wednesday, January 2, 2008
I know all those hollywood writers are on strike now, but I have to wonder just how good they are to begin with after watching the season finale of "One Tree Hill" last night. I've really never seen this show before so I suppose I was a bit at a disadvantage. But they started the show with the births of two babies. One to a senior in high school and the other to one of the high school student's moms.

They then fast forwarded to what life was like for these people two weeks later. There were these two mothers, both skinny as a rail walking around with a tremendous amount of energy, perfect makeup and hair, clothes clean and pressed, and they weren't tired or in pain at all! Clearly this show's target audience is high school kids because anyone who's ever had a baby or has even helped out for someone who's had a baby knows that is just not how life is two weeks after giving birth. It gets better. The grandma comes in to watch the baby on the night of a big "Senior Graduation Party" for her highschool age children who just had a baby, so they can go to this party -- there is drinking at this party, it goes on late into the night, and this mother would rather go to this late night party than stay home and sleep!?

The final straw came when this young couple came back early to check on the baby because they had never left it alone before. The grandma gives them a hard time about being such obsessive parents and tells them to go back to the party, then she leaves the room. What does this couple do now? "Oh' your such a good parent -- no, you are, did I mention how amazingly attractive you are right now?" Kiss, smooch, make-out, cut to a new scene. Hmmm . . . so now people have sex two weeks after having a baby too?

The one good thing I have to say about the show is that atleast you didn't ever hear the babies cry. They were always content -- I mean, obviously they were too plump and big to be two weeks old too, but I do appreciate not having to hear crying babies on T.V. anyhow. With my own crying babies, the last thing I need, is to hear another baby crying at me from television too (it's a new irritation that I thought I would never have). So I guess I can atleast give "One Tree Hill" credit for that.

Just a note on reality, my baby boy has his dr.'s appointment today, the doctor is going to take a look at his leg. Hopefully it is nothing serious.
