I not only am failing miserably at keeping in touch with you all, I am failing miserably at keeping on my weightloss program, darn it! I will do …
I was dxed with Fibromyalgia when I was 40. That was 11 years ago. Yipes! I am 51! Wow! Where did the time go!? I am currently working part-time with developmentally disabled folks. I truly love this job and in the past, until the FM got so terribly bad, I worked with the same company and a lot of the same clients. I tried several years ago to apply for disability(on the advice of my doc, who even wrote a letter to S.S. saying he felt I was a good candidate for it!) I went the whole route with the 3 refusals and even going to the judge. He was soooooo awful to me!! Anyway, he denied me the benefits and I haven't tried again for about 5-6 years. I have never in my life been treated as badly as this S.S. judge treated me. I found out later, through a friend of mine that manages 3 homes and a work center for the developmentally disabled folks, That this judge has had so many complaints against him that he is in pretty serious trouble for the way he treated people. She advised me to reapply. Until I absolutely can't make it anymore on what my hubby makes, I will not try it again. Speaking of hubby, we have been happily married for 29 years and have raised 4 kids to adulthood with out too much trouble. I have 2 grandchildren from my youngest daughter(27), 1 boy that is 3 years old and an 18 month old baby girl. This daughter has, unfortunately been dxed fairly recewntly with fm. It is so hard to see her struggling to take care of the babies, her hubby and her home. She has been in such awful pain, that it is almost impossible for her to handle all of her responsibilities. She is quite the trooper, tho, and tries hard to not let it get her down. My oldest daughter (31) has 1 child(girl) who is 5 years old. This daughter had twin baby girls 3 months ago. I did get to go see them, but because they live in Missouri, I am afraid I won't be seeing them as often as I would like. The drive from here to there took us 17 hours. My daughter is very good about keeping me updated on her children which I am so thankful for. She is now raising these 3 beautifu little girls on her own, with a little help from her mother-in-law. Her hubby is on his 2nd tour to Iraq and won't be home for approximately 6 months. My oldest son(32) put in 5 years with the Marines and 3 years with the army. He decided to call it quits after his last stint in Iraq. He came back with asthma and some other health probs from the service and has been medically discharged. Now he has finished college with a masters degree in acounting. Yay! My youngest son(23) lives fairly close to me as does my youngest daughter. He and his wife have been trying to have a child and so far have had 2 miscarriages and a tubal pregnancy. Very heartbreaking for them. God willing, they will soon have a child. I also raise and totally enjoy my fainting goats. I have 3 adults. I also have chickens, 2 dogs and 1 cat. I love animals, babies and seniors! For the most part, I have pretty much gotten used to living with the Fibro. Now and then it throws me a curve ball and kicks me in the butt, especially lately when it has been doing things to me it never used to do so I am not sure how to handle the new owies. My family are all very supportive of me and my fight with this darn stuff. The kids that live close are here for me anytime I need them. My hubby is awesome and even helps me get clothes on when I have troubles doing it. (Why not, he helps me take them off, even if I don't need help! ;-) Lol!)

I love nature! A great day for me is sitting on the porch on a nice sunny day, watching the birds and all of my new baby animals (in the spring), listening to all the sounds of nature, and smelling the beautiful flowers in my yard. I also enjoy camping with just me and hubby or with friends and family. I enjoy my family and grandkids more than anything else in the world, other than the Good Lord, of course. I also enjoy watching a good movie in the winter and having our fireplace keeping us nice and toasty.

Hi Cheryl,
Great to hear from you as all ways, I don't see the Rheumy until October, but I am seeing a hearing specialist next week, as well as a Dermatologist, for Palmoplantar Pustular Psoriasis, which is causing me so much pain, I can hardly walk right now, so with out being able to get out for my walks, I am starting to get depress, sorry I really wanted to be feeling better, but I am not, and my body is just yelling at me right now, but I am sleeping alto.
Well I am happy you are feeling not too bad, I sure hope it lasts a long, long time for you my friend.
Sending you some caring warm thoughts.
Sherrall
Sorry the summer flew by I hope this fall finds you feeling better. Best wishes to you, EP
Thank you so much, that really gives me hope. I've seen so many marriages fail, without the additional stress of Fibro, and it's nice to know that some overcome the odds.
Thanks. I'm still really traumatized from it all. I'm glad I let someone know when I did otherwise I would have been a lot worse. I'm home now, just trying to relax. As you can imagine with my FMS it hurts a lot more for us than for others. Every part of my body was ridged and stiff and I couldn't talk or walk. The doctor said my toes were all curled up and my tongue was doing strange stuff.. The worst thing is I have Swine Flu at the moment so my boyfriend wont come visit me and my Mum lives 2 hours south by plane. She had booked a ticket up here, but there really isn't much point..
I came into menopause about 8 years ago with a hysterectomy because of fibroid tumors, painful, and heavy periods and because the docs said it would help my back pain, etc. (Which it didn't do a thing for!) I used premarin for a few years and then tried Estradiol. They both worked fairly well, but then all the hooplah about estrogen came along and I had migraines so bad that I quit all types of estrogen. Now I have hotlashes, nightsweats, and dryness in areas that shouldn't always be dry.
I have had FM for most of my life, but diagnosed 8-9 years ago. Have tried several different treatments. Great family support. 4 grown kids, 2grandkids. A great and understanding doctor. Get by most days without too much pain. Love my family,God, the country, animals and good friends. Look forward to visiting others with FM.
I had neck surgery in 1997(?). I have degenerative disc disease, and also fibromyalgia. Lately I have been having strange things going on with my back. Usually it has all been blamed on the Fibro, but now the doc is thinking it's my discs. I am scheduled for an MRI on wednesday. Mostly I use muscle relaxers and percocet. Ibuprofen helps some. Non medicinal use is cold and heat packs. Just would like information and see how others deal with this pain.
